History

Before he can remember he'd been with Gorlain. He'd always known the fellow druid and looked up to him as if he were law. Whatever Gorlain asked of him Creston would do. Gorlain was his master, and he the pupil.

This was because they lived isolated in a part of Stonetalon Mountains. He'd never known another soul other then Gorlain until he was about twenty-six, but that's later in the story. Living in isolation had its perks, he had time to train himself as they had to hunt and forage all they ate and used on their own. Creston used to love the time he'd spend alone wandering through the mountains watching nature in all its glory, uninhibited by man or machine or war.

During his early years Creston learned what he knew of basic druidism from Gorlain, like how to center one's self or change between forms. How to call the spirits and ask for them to help him, about the ancient culture and what almost happened to them years ago. The more he learned about it, the more his strengths began to show themselves. He learned to harness the more feral aspect of druidism, learning to shape shift and they're many uses.

It had to be about the time he was reaching adulthood, fifteen years old, that it happened. He was not far from the hut meditating when he heard the sounds of flapping wings. Normally he'd ignore it but soon after that came the piercing cry of a harpy and it sounded to be coming from the hut.

Gorlain! Creston ran as fast his hooves would carry him to the hut. He got there just in time to see the end of what had been a rather large attack on their hut. But why! The smell of singed feathers and blood filled the air around him, there were harpy bodies everywhere and Gorlain was in the center of them. He was slumped over breathing heavily when Creston ran to him.

"Gorlain what happened!?" But before he could answer two harpies who'd apparently been waiting appeared from behind the hut. They spoke in Taurahe, which was amazing on its own, "We are called Hollow Feathers and have come for him." With that they charged at Gorlain, Creston jumped in the way and began to battle them. But it was no use they were too fast and too strong, he was dispatched but not killed quickly. Left wounded and watching he seen as they grabbed the injured Gorlain and flew away with his only friend.

It would be days before he recovered enough to start searching. And search he did for five long years and as he did so he trained himself. Preparing for the day he'd meet the Hollow Feathers again, and repay them the debt of pain they'd given to him. He met others from this land and learned of its current problems, having been isolated for so long he knew nothing of its on goings. He made it a point to travel to the lands of Mulgore, where he'd learned he had come from. And to travel to Orgrimmar to learn of the Orc's and trolls that lived in the area. He knew his kind had sided with them, and wanted to learn of their ways. All the while, his heart ached for Gorlain and the simple, unadventurous life he'd lived before.

It was after five long years, just before he started to give he found a scoundrel of a human named Jonathon, but everyone knew him by Salty beard. This pirate claimed to have found something belonging to the Hollow Feathers and that he knew where they lived. After having gained the information and bought the strange jewel he'd possessed Creston started forth on his journey of revenge. But it was not but three nights later that the horrible nightmares began.

He would dream that he could see shadowy figures standing around a cage that Gorlain lay within. They would speak in some language he didn't understand before doing something he couldn't see to their prisoner. He'd scream and howl before Creston couldn't take it anymore. Then they'd turn on him and start to suck the strength from him, he couldn't wake up so he would lay there helpless feeling himself slip away. But just before he felt himself lose it for good, Gorlain's voice would ring out clearly in his ears. "It is not your time; you must wake from the dream. You might fight the Nightmare." He would then wake drenched in sweat and feeling extremely exhausted. And this went on every night since then.
