History

It was a chilly evening on a hill looking over a lake in Ashenvale, a Kaldorei woman gave birth to her third child as the wind nipped at the blankets around her. Her mate, a young looking Kaldorei with emerald hair watched over her looking concerned. The stars illuminated boldly in the sky, dragging cones of light as they sifted aimlessly above the trees. A baby was born under one of these cones, as the starlight peeked through the net of leaves and branches in the trees that draped above them. The baby wailed into the wind as it tussled her turquoise patch of hair that danced on her forehead.

The cone of light immediately faded away as the baby girl opened her eyes revealing a strong amber-glow. The baby's father was taken back and caught off guard. He began looking around, listening to the ambiance of the forest and observing the other cones of star light still speckled around them. He stared at the child curiously, then turned his gaze upward to the star that no longer showed interest in his child.

Chione's mother was oblivious to this and was surprised to see a golden aura from her daughter's eyes. "She can learn under....You." Umbra's mother said speaking tiredly to her mate. Chione's father stared at his child, believing it to be a bad omen he began shaking his head. "No...The spirits don't seem to like this one. She should train under you." He said slowly. Exhaling he continues, "She was denied the light of Cenarius, she must remain in the deepest of shadows." Chione's mother's face was covered in beads of sweat, some had corresponding trails as the sweat dripped down her smooth skin. "We will see." Her mother said sternly, not ready to give up on her child.

In the following centuries, Chione had grown to be a strong young Kaldorei. She had began training under her mother as soon as she could throw a coherent punch. Chione had no natural talent in fighting whatsoever, but because of how much fighting information her mother drilled into her developing mind at a young age, Chione began catching on. Her older sister and brother would watch as their mother would beat Chione unconscious after they ate dinner. They fought almost in a dance, exchanging limb for limb as the grass swayed around them, the trees hushing their movements with the subtle rustle of their leaves.

Chione admired her mother almost as a Goddess, she wished to be strong, beautiful and wise like her. Her own older sister she got along with, but felt she wasted too much time. Her older sister was at least one hundred years her senior yet could be easily bested by Chione if they fought seriously, which they never did. Chione's brother was trained specifically under his father, attempting to grasp the ways of the druid. He was mediocre at best, barely grasping the concept yet he yearned to be like his father and make him proud. Chione thought this was admirable, and over the years became much closer with her brother.

Years progressed as Chione had become a sentinel, she still continued training in their facilities well after the others went home, and arrived before most the next day as well. Her father had left to sleep and enter the emerald dream feeling he had nothing else to teach his son, leaving her brother to feel neglected. Chione took the pain of her brother and used it for motivation to further her skills. Chione's talents were recognized as she was given leadership over a handpicked group of sentinels, she dubbed her unit the Lunar Fang. They were specifically meant to remain in the shadows, and taking jobs of higher difficulty. Out of pity she admitted her sister into her unit, much to the request of their mother.

Over the next couple hundred years Umbra had been through many missions and still kept the unit hidden from most civilians and sentinels throughout Ashenvale. The Lunar Fang became one of the many units dispatched to uphold the peace and tranquility of Ashenvale. Her last mission was to keep an eye on a pack of Harpies in the Barrens as they were coming dangerously close to Ashenvale's border. While in the trees, observing their movements a Kaldorei male stumbled too far out into the Barrens. She watched as he traveled out in the open oblivious to the Harpies circling above him, cawing to the moon. She couldn't call out to him because it would give away her position she continued watching the male observing his purpose. Instantly the Harpies were all over him, the male was surrounded by a haze of feathers and blood mist. The sky seemed to darken immediately as clouds drifted over the moon, The Lunar Fang darted from the trees and ensued battle with the Harpies. After the conflict, Chione and a few others stood in the dying grass amongst dead Kaldorei and Harpies. She slowly walked to the dying male, as the wind pulled her long braid behind her. Chione's face was enraged behind her mask, upset she lost comrades because of this foolish male. She was tempted to kill him herself as she knelt down, to his twitching body. It was then she realized the male was her brother, her golden eyes widened as she saw him. "Stella?" Her brother coughed the question, blood dripped from his lips. Stella was a name given to her by her brother, who thought Chione was a name that never fit her. She snatched the mask around her mouth holding her brother's head up.

Under the shadow which was once moonlight, Chione's brother told her about how much he wished to make their father happy. She didn't enjoy speaking personal matters in front of her unit, but she put that aside temporarily because of her severely wounded brother. She didn't speak ill of her father who was her brothers Idol, but she never liked him as he always showed her resentment and anger. She was pleased he had left. He said he had one request, and that was for her to fulfill her potential as a druid, he could sense her talent and it was insulting to him that she didn't pursue it. She shook her head saying he was wrong, but he flashed a glare at her with more energy that it looked like his body could muster. She was taken back as a warm tear slid down her cheek. She turned her head to the four sentinels behind her. "We're done here." She said as they disappeared into the night. She looked to her brother sternly. "Fine...Teach me." He smiled through a bloody grin and closed his eyes laying contently in the dead grass.

Over the next 100 years, Chione resigned from her Unit giving leadership over to her sister and began training secretly as a Druid. Her brother had taught her everything he had known and suggested she go to the emerald dream to clear her mind and further her meditation. She said goodbye to her family over a formal dinner and left to go into hibernation.

She awoke suddenly during the Third war. She rejoined the Sentinels and fought valiantly as she was a stronger warrior than she was a druid. When they lost their immortality her brother was killed by straggling demons and her sister was kidnapped by slave traders in the Barrens. Her father blamed Chione for this saying he only left because he knew -she- was there to protect them, along with her mother. He rejected Chione and never spoke to her again. She had lost all contact with her former comrades and lost credibility to lead the Lunar Fang again.

She also has plans in the distant future to recruit suitable talent for her own version of the Lunar Fang once more.
