Personality

Calandil can best be described as a loyal soldier that takes position among the Blood Knights very seriously. He is weaker than most of the other blood knights, but he does not let this get in his way; he uses his slighter body to dart in and out of combat whenever able and avoids a direct frontal assault. He is sometimes looked down upon because of his unique fighting style, some seeing it as cowardice and comparable to that of a rogue. Despite the reputation the Blood Knights have, he is rather kind and gentle when it comes to other people and while he does share his people's notoriously xenophobic views, he remains polite despite what he may be feeling. The one trait that seems to be in line with other Blood Knights is the fact that he is very vengeful and does not take betrayal lightly.

Calandil has an intense hate for the scourge and will stop at nothing to destroy them. He is not satisfied with just retaking Silvermoon and Eversong, he wants the land returned to the way it was before the scourge destroyed the city. He has high respect for any Blood Knight and Farstrider that fight the Scourge in the Dead Scar daily, often joining them when he is on duty.

He also puts a lot of attention into his training and it has almost became a way that he expresses himself. He can often be seen sparring with other knights or even out fighting the undead when he is particularly stressed or emotional. He also sees it as a way to get to know another person. He seems to prefer the use of a spear to that of a sword, liking the flexibility and the range of spearmanship. He usually takes the defensive in battle, using his speed and the extended reach of his spear to his advantage.

History

Calandil came from a simple family consisting of himself and his parents. Their house was located in the forests of Eversong, not far from Silvermoon itself. Before the fall of the city, he was taught a great deal by his parents and eventually expressed an interest to follow in his father's footsteps as a Paladin. As well, he inherited a deep reverence for nature through his mother, a Farstrider.

When scourge threat became known at Silvermoon, his parents were among the first to rise to defend their homeland. Calandil, being an initiate, was stationed in the rear of the defenders despite his protests and was tasked with using what magic his father had taught him to tend to the wounded. It was not long before the undead fell upon the city's defenses and midst the carnage he witnessed both his parents become overwhelmed by the undead. Despite the losses, he continued to fight the undead plague until the army all but fled before the Scourge. As the elves the retreated, he led many of his fellow initiates deep into the forests, evading the undead that pursued them.

When the scourge finally left the ruins of Silvermoon and Eversong altogether, he helped lead whatever elves that had followed him into the forest back to the city. The sights of the city when he first looked upon it stay with him, even to this day. As they ventured farther into the city, they began to encounter ghosts and wraiths of the dead high elves that littered the streets. They were caught off guard when their own people's spirits began to hound and attack them, the shock effectively driving him and his companions from the city in terror.

They watched the city for many days from the safety of the forest, warning any elves they saw of the danger of the haunted city. Slowly his band of survivors dispersed, retreating to Sunstrider Isle with the rest of their people. It was not long before he was forced to leave as well. He remained at Sunstrider until Grand Magister Rommath and his blood mages retook the city for the newly proclaimed Blood Elves.

During the hunt for Sanguis, the rogue blood knight, he met several blood knights who had the same goal as him, the eradication of the Scourge from his homeland. Calleda, Arlyn, and Lene has been his closest friends and companions since they banded together to form the Crimson Templars. He is the Chief of Healing and Medical Arts in the guild and spends most of his time in Silvermoon now, searching for allies to the Templar's cause.
