Barregis is what you could call a three-faced man. One moment he will be speaking politely to you, the next he will stab you in the back, and the next he will raise your child as his own as a repayment for his 'betrayal'. A man of principle, he prefers money and power, and the sense of 'honor even in thieves', over the notion of having to rape, kill, and rob at will. He is a polite man when confronted. Polite, respectful, and mildly honorable (When you're not someone he plans to rob). In combat, he'll take a sort of joking side of things; Throwing cheesy jokes around as he fires from behind cover, or even from within the crossfire, although at times he is very serious with combat - always ready. When it comes down to the fact of the moment, however, some will see he has a small bit of 'Robin Hood Type' in him.

History

Barregis Jones was conceived to a Malena Jones-Godford and her brother Jakob Jones in a strange moment in the home of Jakob. Malena's husband, Arthur Godford, rescued her from the kidnapping of her brother, and struck Jakob down. Malena, outside of the watch of her husband, put the baby Barregis into the Stratholme orphanage.

Barregis was an adventurous orphan who always picked the role of the Crime Lord when the orphans would play the game, 'Guards and Bad Guys'. At the age of five, Barregis was taken under the wing of a Lordaeron Soldier, Galrin Bane. Bane, however, had a bad side, and showed it often when he showed up late every night, drunk to shit and armed with bludgeoning objects, whether it were fists, chairs, or a beer bottle. Barregis endured through these daily beatings, spending his daytime in the library reading all material he could find; Except magical tomes, which did not interest him.

When Barregis turned eleven, Galrin was called to fight, and joined the Lordaeron Expedition to Stormwind. He returned five years later in defeat of the First War to find sixteen year-old Barregis standing in the doorway of his room with two things; An empty beer bottle and a twitching eye. The fight was quick, and Barregis finished it by smashing Galrin's head in with the bottle until it broke. He cleaned himself up and put on a new outfit, putting the bloodied clothing to the flame. He put on his 'please help' expression, and made the scene look like the Guards might expect it; Three burly men and one disgruntled, heavily drunk idiot of a soldier. The Guards bought it easily, and Barregis, with a twitching eye, entered the crime world of Stratholme.

His first assignment was simple; meet his partner, gain entry to the manor of an unwilling noble, and send a clear message not to fuck with his boss. His partner, one Barin West, was an ironic companion. West was a close friend of Barregis' from the orphanage, and the irony of it was that West was always the Guard Captain in the game of 'Guards and Bad Guys'. They gained entry to the manor easily, scaling the walls under the shadow of night and silently eliminating the man's private guards. In the nobles main room, Barregis and West discovered the disgruntled man in his pajamas with a longsword, standing in front of his wife and five children. Barregis easily dispatched the noble, and left the note meant for the mans relatives, leaving the wife and children alone, as he began to nurture his ideal of 'there is honor even among thieves'. West, however, had different plans. The screams would haunt even Jones for the rest of his life. As West descended with bloody blades, Barregis turned to his former companion and slew him. He set the scene to look like one of the guards had the luck to strike West down before his own death, and fled before the guards arrived.

He was initiated into the underground of Stratholme, never telling the full story of that night's happenings to anyone. Upon turning seventeen, the Second War began to terrify the citizens of Lordaeron as the Horde left a path of destruction all the way to the Capital City. This gave Jones and his Crime Boss an advantage; this small age of chaos provided the perfect battleground for crime. Understandably so, the crime was kept in the shadows, as the guard was still active even during these events. Over the years of the Second War, Barregis rose in the hierarchy of his boss, soon becoming the mans right hand man, and friend of Barek Bane, who was the son of Juliette Bane, sister of Barregis' old 'caretaker', Galrin Bane.

Barregis' arsenal grew from daggers and knives to firearms as well, pistols and even rifles of all three makes; Dwarvish, Gnomish, and Goblin. Under the cover of a Lordaeron Soldier, Barregis accompanied the rookie Barek to Alterac, and in the chaos of the Alliance assault on the city, they carried out yet another mission of their boss, to slay a very defiant cleric. This cleric gave quite the fight, although most of the trouble came from the man's guards, who Barregis slew eventually with his new arsenal of firearms. After the death of the Cleric, three Lordaeronian soldiers entered the church in which the battle had occurred. Knowing that this scene had to look more like a battle, Barregis and Barek slew the soldiers in cold blood, and with ease due to their expanded arsenal. Barregis then turned to Barek and put a bullet in the boys head, tossing the used gun to the side of a dead guard.

Barregis returned to Stratholme to find that his organization had been attacked by a rival organization, and he entered during the fray. After a long battle between the organizations, there was only Barregis, his boss, and fifty thugs of their side. Barregis, with a twitch in his eye, slit his bosses throat, and tossed the knife aside, looking to the fifty thugs and saying 'Clean this mess up.' The thugs, seeing Barregis now as their boss, cleaned the establishment up and the organization began to run once again. An assassination of Barregis was attempted on the man's thirtieth birthday. The five men were slain by Barregis in a trap set by the intellectual leader, and their bodies were desecrated and set on display in the organization's establishment, a testament to 'not fuck with Jones'. The families of the slain were sent letters from Barregis himself detailing the act of betrayal and their slaying.

Barregis later gained a 'reputation' among the Stratholme Guard, and he escaped the wrath of the Guard during the chaos of Arthas' assault of the city, putting on his old Lordaeron Soldier disguise and joining Arthas' purging of the city. He only slew the men he found, and only those above sixteen, still sticking to his old honor code. His organization's remnants held the line as Barregis and about fifteen of Arthas' men charged in and slew them all. Barregis gave his second-in-command a goodbye warning as he drove the longsword through the man's chest. After the purging, Barregis slipped away while his 'fellow soldiers' were not looking, and made for Stormwind under the guise of Salmo West, 'Famous Stratholme Baker, although not to be remembered at all'.

He quickly paved a path in the crime world of Stormwind, and established 'The Western Cookery', an underground assassins guild under the guise of a simple restaurant. Contracts swelled, and Barregis slowly trickled in news of world events; from the Fall of Lordaeron to the Battle at Mount Hyjal. Barregis found the new Kalimdor as an opportunity for new ground. In mockery of Galrin and Barek Bane, he formed a 'Treasure Hunting Company' under the new name Danard Bane. A two-pronged organization leader, Barregis led the 'Cookery' in Stormwind while he was in Kalimdor leading the Treasure's Bane Company.

Barregis received an anonymous letter from one of his top assassins that another top assassin was planning to overthrow him on his next visit to Stormwind. Barregis entered the Cookery with a twitching eye and eliminated the usurpers on a whim, putting their heads in baskets in the main hall of the establishment with a simple note; 'Don't fuck with Jones'. Barregis returned to Kalimdor shortly afterwards and waited in silence. News came of the Dark Portal's reopening, and the Treasure's Bane Company was sent inside, and began accumulating money like it was nothing. Being a large group of mercenaries, the people all over Outland took a liking to these easily bought thugs. Two years went by and Northrend opened up. With a grin Barregis led the Company to Northrend on a boat, and landed in Grizzly Hills. The action led to the Storm Peaks, and Barregis met eyes with a group of his own thugs that decided they wanted to dance.

In the shadow of a Storm Peaks blizzard, Barregis shot down the group of usurpers, and with a twitching eye returned to the Cookery in Stormwind. Barregis rolled his neck and waited for the next challenger. Ever since, the Treasure's Bane Company, and the Western Cookery have operated in the shadow of the world's wars and industry.
