Personality

Barisly has always had a mellow and welcoming attitude, making him a very level-headed individual. He takes great pride in his culture and home, as well as his brewing heritage. He is good at handling stress, tends to be a thorough thinker, and is an exceedingly focused worker when it comes to the things he loves doing. However, when it comes to tasks that he holds no desire for, he tends to procrastinate… Heavily. Because of this, Barisly has a habit of letting things outside his personal interests slip out of his plans, leaving these tasks to sit unattended until something comes along and forces him to complete them. Still, when motivated correctly, Barisly can prove to be a reliable individual.

History

Barisly was born in a small Dwarf house east of Ironforge, built into the mountain. Like most Dwarves, he spent his years growing-up immersed in the learning the traditional teachings of earth and mining. From early to mid-childhood, he followed in his father's footsteps as a brewer. When he was 13, the news of the First Great War reached his ears. Later, at age 18, his father was called out, along with many other Dwarves, to assist the Alliance in the battle against the Horde, but died within the first few weeks of fighting. Barisly, lost without a father/teacher to instruct him further in the ways of Firebrew brewing, was sent off by his mother to live with his uncle in Ironforge, who was a master forger.

Once settled into his new home in Ironforge, he began working as his uncle's assistant, picking up the trade of smelting and forging over the years, but still yearning for the delight he felt working with his father when brewing. Whenever granted enough free time, he would rush back over to his house, spending time with his mother and continuing to make small brews to take back to Ironforge. When he reached the age of 40, he decided he would attempt to take back up the trade of his father's brewing from where he left off. His uncle, supportive of the idea, gave him money and supplies to go visit and learn from a cousin of his who lived in Loch Modan. Thus began Barisly's journey. He hitched himself a week's ride from a Dwarven caravan making a trading pass through Loch Modan, stopping off in the Dwarven town of Thelsamar. He promptly found his cousin and introduced himself, beginning what would be the most useful two years he had ever experienced.

It wasn't easy, or what Barisly had expected. In fact, for the first few months, he wasn't even instructed in anything he thought was remotely related to brewing. Instead, his cousin took that time to teach Barisly survival and hunting techniques. This caught Barisly by surprise, and he didn't much care for what he was being taught, regardless of how many times his cousin said it would help him.

Finally, the day of training's end came, and Barisly was fully expecting to begin work on brewing. To his surprise, his cousin had planned another few months of seemingly unrelated training for Barisly, who was quite irritated by that point. To quell Barisly's irritation, and to enlighten the young Dwarf, his cousin explained to him that all previous Firebrew Brewers carried a tradition of being fully self-sufficient, as well as being well-rounded cooks. This made Barisly think back to his younger days, the days when his father was still alive. His father hadn't just been a great brewer, he also made some of the best food Barisly had ever had. Even more so, his father never spent money on meat, and his family always wore clothes that his father had made from leather. This in mind, Barisly began to understand that he was not only learning to be a brewer, but that he was also upholding the Firebrew traditions. With these thoughts providing new fuel for Barisly's determination, he readily accepted any training his cousin presented, slowly learning of the long history and many traditions of his family along the way.

A full 8 months pass from his arrival, unfolding a new, well rounded survivor named Barisly. The time had finally come for him to begin his studies on the secret techniques of Firebrew brewing. Barisly could hardly wait, which was quite unusual of him. For the next 16 months, Barisly spent his time learning all he could understand about the Firebrew, finding his old training unexpectedly valuable beyond its traditional significance.

About a week ago, he took his leave of his relative, taking a week's journey back to Dun 'Morogh in hopes of setting up shop and beginning his life as a Firebrew brewmeister.
