Personality

Alignment: Neutral Good

Azalea's trials have worn herself down to the core. It reflects in her submissive nature, empathy for others and gentle speaking tone. She is a woman that knows her place and is content to live in it. Azalea seems to lack of any sort of apparent ambition which can be perplexing to other Blood Elves. The Mage does not like any undead. She keeps this to herself in fear of her people. She dislikes change and prefers to feel in control of the situation. To say she loathes yelling would be an understatement. It greatly disturbs her and she will not hesitate to break down in tears and vanish away under an Invisibility spell. The servant has a hard time dealing with compliments. The years of serving others and their needs has made her own needs and cares distant. Azalea feels genuinely valued serving House Sunfire, and does not believe she can find that anywhere else. She would not harm others for any sort of advantage. At times this has put her at odds with her masters. Azalea enjoys musical performances, magical artifacts and her spellcraft in her moments of free time.

History

Born to a wealthy house with roots in instrument craftsmanship, Azalea was raised much like any other High Elf. She spent most of her time in the cities engaged with the various aspects of high class living. She took a liking to enchanting early on and soon began searching for a proper apprenticeship to expand her interests. Her mentor was an aged elf with a loose tie to her family. She still recalls when she entered his tower, awestruck by all the various floating objects he maintained with his expert grasp on the arcane. At first, she wasn't allowed to experiment with the various reagents of his spellcraft. For a few months she was told to simply maintain the tower and replace all of his things left strewn about.

Azalea began to pick out the subtle differences in the various items. Some enchantments were simply decoys. Other magical-looking items were simply ornate pieces of mundane craft. Soon after she realized this, the wisened sage left a particularly plain trinket among the mess. Azalea was oddly attracted to the thing and took it to her mentor. He took the item and only replied that she was ready. He began to teach her in earnest that day. The man wasn't without his quirks and would often ramble off his history and musings to the young woman. One of the things Azalea picked up was his appreciation for life. In his thousands of years of living, he had never taken a life of another. She admired him for that and silently took up the same mantle.

Over the years he also would teach her various non-violent spells. They were focused on offering aid to allies or hindering foes. He would also build upon her trained Enchanting skills to work with the frivolous hovering enchantments that have grown in popularity with the elven culture. Seeing her fit to leave his guidance, Azalea's mentor had a gift to show her off with. He produced the same trinket from before. Again, it seemed to call to Azalea. He explained that it had been prepared for an enchantment but was simply left empty. The man then twisted the alignment of the enchantment field. This caused the two rotating shards to resonate harmoniously against the main body of the trinket. It was a tender gift, though she wondered how he ever picked up her inclination to the musical arts.

The sage had one more task for her. In remembrance to the first one hundred High Elves that trained humans in the way of magic, Azalea was sent with a group of other budding magi south to Gilneas. Naturally her parents used a portion of their vast wealth to secure a lodging with a respectable Human Noble House. For a single year, Azalea and her group found little success in training the reclusive Gilnean people. She befriended her gracious host, a young man by the name of Petyr. Unlike her would-be tutors, he wasn't at all interested in the arcane. It was a bit refreshing to speak to the naturalist and his 'old ways' during her down time. As the year long assignment came to an end, Azalea and Petyr decided they would write each other. The distance would not be too great an obstacle. With a warm wish of well-being, the group of displaced elves headed back for Silvermoon.

Azalea was abruptly arrested and jailed upon her return. Her crime was directly related to her own House's criminal activity that had collapsed while she was abroad. With an extra nudge from several upset Houses that had been taken advantage of, the entirety of the Eburi'osa House was stripped down and sold to recoup losses. Her family either jailed or fled in exile lest they share the same fate. The next five years imprisoned would wear down and eventually break Azalea's spirit. One of the more benevolent Houses eventually traced through the litigation and discovered the forgotten prisoner. With the offer of freedom at the price of indentured servitude, the humbled Mage readily accepted the terms. Azalea was branded with a magical ink just under her left eye.

Azalea served without question. She wasn't above any normal mundane task. She was a quiet servant, trying just to survive in her new environment. A few of the nobles would take a rather harsh tone with her. She hated it, but there was nothing she could do. House Sunfire was a safe haven from the outside world however difficult on the inside. During the Third War, Azalea helped defend off the Scourge from the estates. Her main task after the Sunwell was destroyed was to administer fel-crystals to the family as they wracked with the pangs of withdrawal. Azalea took special interest into a small, sickly elf named Reigen. She was withdrawn from the rest of the House and secluded in a darkened room. Azalea silently empathized with the broken woman and took it upon herself to see to her care.

The next few years Azalea would watch the world change from the vantage point of politically-charged newspapers. She would also watch a very different Reigen rise to power. The faithful servant was ushered into more of the Matron's day-to-day activities. Azalea became more of a personal servant alongside her house duties. This wasn't without its perks, one of which was Reigen establishing harsh penalties for abusing any servant in any way. It was a warm gesture that really uplifted Azalea's spirits. She was often granted abundant free time and was trusted enough to travel to distant places on House business. Occasionally she had been asked on a date while serving at social functions. One of which there was simply a lack of interest. The other was a romantic night to a musical. However it ended with miscommunication and a harsh argument. She fled with a Blink and faded into Invisibility. Azalea's revived self-confidence was crushed.

Recently, Azalea was offered her independence by Reigen. The servant was stunned to say the least. The House Matron actually pleaded with Azalea to stay and continue her service. For the first time in many years, Azalea felt valued. She was offered the same standard of living, a fair wage for her work, time, the respect to turn down any task she didn't agree with, and of course her freedom. Everything that commoners and nobles alike take for granted would finally be returned to her. 'And where else would I go?', she thought to herself. Azalea took the papers and headed for the overlook. She held them out over the edge and thought of all the years since past. A burden lifted. The damage of her foolish family had been done. She was angry for the years that had been taken away from her. It was a calm angry that soon found a fitting outlet. The Mage set the contract to a slow flame and watched the ashes dance across the crystal clear sky. Azalea had some errands to run, and for once, she could call them her own.

The first stop was to the Registry. Azalea wanted her family out of her past. Though the best she could do was to remove their name from her records. It felt like a new beginning or a clean slate. Next she wanted to open a bank account. Somewhere she could collect things to call her own. It was supposed to be a simple task but that all changed when Azalea received a box. Someone had went the extra mile to save her belongings that were stripped from her on the day she was arrested. Could they have been sitting here all these years forgotten? Azalea felt her tears getting the best of her so she conjured an invisibility spell to escape the public scene. She fled to a bench under a tree and began to sort through the items. There was the old trinket given to Azalea by her former master. In a pouch was a few coins she had from the trip. An unspoiled bottle of Gilnean wine was also saved. Azalea remembered it was to be shared with her family upon her return. It was like looking into a time capsule as her memories resurfaced. Quickly she wiped her eyes with the heel of her palm as she took up an item she didn't recognize. It was a small stack of letters loosely discarded into the box. They were addressed to Azalea from her Gilnean host, Petyr. He still wrote even with never getting a response from the incarcerated Mage. Azalea hesitated. Gilneas had long been sealed off from the rest of the world and in ruins. They were the first deposit into her own bank account. She could not bring herself to open them.

Azalea now continues with her life much the same as she has come accustomed to. She keeps her true self distant from her people. Her work behind the scenes have made this easily possible. The Mage is currently struggling inwardly with the changes to the world. A true Warlord now leads the Orcs. The Amani Trolls are still left unchecked. The Dead Scar is overrun with the Scourge. The Forsaken gnash their teeth at Greymane wall. Things that shouldn't bother a lowly servant, do. Only time will tell how Azalea copes.

Skills and Abilities

Azalea only uses passive spells that either help her allies or hinder her foes. She is proficient in the use of Teleport and Portals. She was trained to sense the subtle enchantments of the elven architecture and is capable of placing, restoring, or removing such frivolous enchantments. This has helped her to identify a wide range of more practical enchantments for use in House Sunfire. Azalea lacks and has no desire to learn effective offensive spells. She is able to light a candle or chill a drink, but that is as far as it goes.

Mages Have It Maid
Azalea also uses her arcane abilities to augment her duties as House Servant. She is capable of sending off a broom in one direction, a duster in another and set the table all with an arcane flair. Although it is efficient, this ability is just as taxing as doing the chores manually. Minus the unsightly sweat.
