History

Areth was born in the grand city of Dalaran. Although his family was one of the many that did not possess magical talent, his father provided a steady income with his rather successful tailoring shop, while his mother stayed home to raise the children and run the house.

At a very early age, Areth began showing interest in magic. When he played with the other children his chosen role was always a mage in the pretend battles, waving around a long stick with a blanket tied around his neck.

It was the year he turned ten, that an old mage visited his family and asked Areth if he wanted to become an apprentice, to learn the arcane arts. The young boy accepted instantly, and his parents did not disagree. However, his elder sister Cassandra didn't like his choice to become a mage, she felt the arcane arts defiled the soul and instead chose to travel to Lordaeron and learn the ways of the Light.

For the next ten years he was a student of an elderly archmage named Eran Flameweave. Areth was very fond of his master and came to think of him as a second father. He even adopted the name of Flameweave, leaving the Harris family name behind.

Once his training was over, he was promoted to a Mage. Twenty years old and talented in the arts, he would only become stronger and wiser. His old master gave him a staff made of silver, tipped with a green orb.

He worked and studied in Dalaran for the next five years, earning the respect of his superiors. He was happy, but not for long.

The year after, Kel'Thuzad struck Dalaran with an army of the Scourge. The city he once called home. The necromancer managed to kill Antonidas and summon Archimonde of the Burning Legion. The Demon Lord destroyed Dalaran completely, leaving nothing but ruins. Areth's family died in the assault, along with many of his dearest friends, while he escaped unharmed and headed for Stormwind.

At the age of twenty-seven, only a year after he had settled into Stormwind, Areth was called out to aid the Alliance lands. He traveled for eight years, fighting orcs, gnolls, goblins and all kinds of beasts. He joined mercenary groups and soldiers, using his arcane powers to help those that needed him.

After eight long years on the road, he returned to Stormwind. Now thirty-five years old, battle-hardened and powerful, he was rewarded his excellent service with his own study, library to keep the books he had sent home on his travels.

Now began another quiet chapter in Areth's life. He lived in a small bedroom he rented at the Mage Quarter and spent most of his days in his library or the Mage Tower.

Two years it was like this, until he found the need to travel once more. He had always had a dream of going to Lordaeron and find his sister. Even after the Scourge destroyed Lordaeron he steadfastly believes she is still alive.

Recently joining a mercenery group called the Lodestone Company, he hopes to gain allies there to go with him to Lordaeron, and find his sister. He even carries the gift she gave him, all those years ago. A silver pendant, engraved with the letter: C.
