Skills and Abilities

When it comes to shapeshifting, Angus, previously a Druid of the Talon, favours the Storm Crow form. He has spent many years perfecting this particular area of his abilities and is now able to fight very well and use the form to its full potential when shapeshifted. However, because of this, the strength of Angus' other animal forms suffers to the point where it is almost painful for him to change into them.

Appearance

Robes are Angus' favourite kind of clothing, but he does not wear them very often nowadays. He usually puts on a simple shirt and a warm pair of trousers - both of dark grey colours and with yellow embroidery.

Other: There is a rather ugly-looking blackened scar on his back.

Personality

One of the first things one would notice when talking to Angus is his politeness. He tries to keep his manners impeccable no matter what, even when he is angry or frustrated. In his eyes, respect is one of the most important things in one's behaviour. This goes hand in hand with Angus' surprising ability to understand at kindly smile at stupidity. He would not leave someone in trouble or deny a call for help if it was avoidable. Because of this and his overly passionate and eloquent manner of speaking, Angus has been called "melodramatic" a good number of times.

Another one of Angus' main traits is his generosity. He simply likes giving things, be it shelter for the poor, time for the curious, aid for the sick or care for those he loves. However, there is a rather selfish twist to this, as being kind to others makes him feel sinfully good. Unfortunately, most of the time he is without a copper in his pocket, and therefore too poor to provide any material support for anyone. Angus firmly believes that there is no such thing as spending too much time doing what he enjoys, especially if it involves working to better the life of his people, which is something he has been trying to do for many years now. If he does something, he puts all of himself into it. He cares very little about his own well being, much unlike that of others. If saving a person whom he truly loves and cares about would mean sacrificing something precious, or even himself, Angus would do it. As a result of many devastating and humiliating failures, the Elf sees himself as a worthless shell - most of this is just a simple attempt to improve.

Angus has seen a lot on his life and all those experiences haven't come and gone without leaving their mark - the Druid tends to look at the younger 'troublemaker' races with distrust. That makes him frown upon many things the Humans do and slowly start to dislike them in general. The only races that he honestly likes - other than his, that is - are Tauren and Draenei. Angus always liked the nomadic creatures - they hold the same respect for nature and the natural ways as Kal'dorei do. He, of course, was one of the Night Elves who supported the side of those who wanted to accept the Tauren into the Cenarion Circle. When it comes to the way he sees other races, the only unusual thing is that he feels no real hatred toward the Orcs. He understands that they were under demonic influence when they committed their vile acts and, convinced that the two races have no reason to be real enemies, keeps looking for a compromise they could reach.

Angus is one of those people who fight for 'the greater good'. Sadly, this turned out to be one of his greatest flaws, ruining his somewhat 'positive' image. Angus is not only a perfectionist, but also a man who is almost always driven by his many fears - because of this he can get a little reckless or zealous when working toward a goal he had set for himself, stopping at literally nothing in his attempts to reach it. One of his greatest fears is fear of failure, and the amount of work and time the Elf puts into the things he does reflects this stupendously well. It is not exactly obsession, but something dangerously close. While his intentions are good, the methods Angus uses may reach a very... dark level.

History

The bleak life of Angus Silentwing started some ten thousand years ago in the large Night Elf settlement known as Astranaar, one of the oldest towns in Ashenvale. He was born to a couple of very ordinary people - Thedonius Silentwing, a rather experienced Druid of the Talon, and Malaiah Windspirit, a simple and humble Priestess of the Moon.

Angus and Thedonius Silentwing

Glowing amber eyes was something Thedonius had had to work hard for and it made him very proud and happy to see his son's face adorned with yellowish light and not the more usual silver. He and Malaiah were very careful in raising the child, planning even the smallest of steps - they tried to create conditions as safe and peaceful as they could be back then, they began teaching him rigid discipline and pleasant manners in the earliest of the young Elf's days. Whether it helped or not remains unknown, but they got what they wanted. They injected the undying dream of becoming a powerful Druid others could look up to into their little son's mind and succeeded in raising a pleasant and well-rounded individual.

Thedonius was Angus' idol. His job as a Druid, still a very new thing then, fascinated the boy very much and the man was happy to see his son's interest grow quickly. Soon came the day when Angus told his father that he wanted to follow in his footsteps. The Elf was incredibly pleased and happily agreed to be the first of the young man's mentors. He was the one who taught Angus the very basics. Thedonius liked to take him out for long walks in the magnificent forests, sometimes even lengthier trips to more faraway places. He liked to talk about the history of their race, the dark and terrible mistakes they had made, they things they had learned. He introduced Angus to the theory of balance. However, time passed quickly and Thedonius found himself compelled to return to the Emerald Dream. Sadly, Angus was not yet ready for such a journey and the man knew he would stay dreaming for a very long time. He had to think fast, and he did - before he went back to the barrow dens, he sent a pleading letter to an old friend, the only Druid he could trust with his son, and asked him to teach and train Angus in his absence. Heynal Moonstorm accepted.

Angus missed his father and his lessons, of course, but also really liked his new mentor. Heynal was a very experienced old man with just the right amount of strictness and just the right amount of kindness and Angus couldn't help but admire him as much as he admired Thedonius, if not more. The feeling was mutual; Moonstorm was quite fond of his student - Angus, like most of the Kal'dorei children born with amber eyes had an inexplicable natural talent and a passion for learning Druidism. Years passed and the young Elf studied and trained hard - he had set a goal for himself and he found it all but impossible to stop and let it go even in the hardest of times, he felt some kind of passionate force pushing him forward, leaving him no choice but to go on. However, it was only on the day that he became one hundred and fifty years of age that Heynal and Malaiah decided it was time for the Kal'dorei to leave his parents' home in Astranaar and continue his studies elsewhere, where nothing would prevent his training from becoming as efficient as it could be. Angus was excited, but also worried about leaving his mother. It took a lot of assurances to convince him, but eventually they left to live in the wilds. The master and the student explored the vast forests, they practiced and they learned. Angus progressed gradually.

Many years later, the time for the Kal'dorei to go into the mystical Emerald Dream finally came. Heynal took Angus to one to the barrow dens in which Thedonius slept. Angus felt confident and prepared - and a little eager to see his father again - and they ventured into the strange world, where they would spend a few thousands of years. When the two Silentwings met, Angus felt like he wanted nothing but to spend time with his father. Unfortunately, this was not possible - Thedonius had to continue working on the tasks the Cenarion Circle had assigned to him and the younger Elf's training had to continue. Angus and Heynal left to explore the Dream, to tend to it and to learn from it. The student was becoming more and more independent, but the old Druid never left his side; the man was always there, ready to give guidance and help when needed. Years passed and the unavoidable happened - Angus grew stronger. When the time to choose an animal totem came, the Night Elf had very little doubts, if not none at all. The beasts that could spread their wings and soar in the endless skies had always seemed special to him, he had always felt some kind of bond between them and himself. Angus chose to follow the path of the Talon, taking the Storm Crow as his totem. However, this choice was rather short-lived. Soon Angus finished his studies with Heynal and began to learn and train on his own. It was then that a strange thought visited him, a bleak and faint memory of a lesson with his father. Balance must exist in everything, that - or something very similar - was what he had said. Realisation dawned upon him and he saw what he thought had been a mistake - the path a Druid takes could not be an exception. In an attempt to mend the damage done, Angus took a more active interest in other aspects and paths of Druidism, other spirits, other animals, other magics, other totems. He began to train again. It was hard, but also rewarding. Angus managed to balance his power and gift enough to become a Druid of the Wild, a very odd rarity back then. Yet even after abandoning his old totem, he still put the form of the Storm Crow above the others.

After many long and sometimes even dragging years of peace, strange green-skinned brutes and armies of rotting monsters that called themselves the Scourge invaded and defiled the sacred lands of the Night Elves. At that time, Angus was working with the Cenarion Circle in the Moonglade. The first news he received was a letter from a childhood friend who lived in the forest of Ashenvale stating that Cenarius, the Demigod that guided, protected and nurtured their race, had been killed by the filthy interlopers. The Druid could not believe it, but left the safety of the mist-shrouded forests immediately. Angus made his way to the distant town of Astranaar in a hurry. There he found battalions of Sentinels and newly awakened Druids preparing for the upcoming battles - among them were his parents, but he knew that there was no time for warm reunions. He joined them, he helped them fight - he was one of many. Many of those he fought beside fell, many continued to battle. Angus was one of those strangely lucky Night Elves who survived the bloody war. He fought in the Battle for Mount Hyjal and walked out of the crimson battlefield alive.

Despite the many victories, the war was a very difficult and sad time for Angus. The cold and unfeeling corpse of Cenarius was not the only terrible thing the fighting had brought him; some of the losses were not shared, and his parents were among them. Angus had found Thedonius Silentwing and Malaiah Windspirit lying in the lines of the dead at the foot of Mount Hyjal, lifeless, still, and no warmer than the faceless bodies beside them. Then Angus realised that he had never been this alone in his life - even Heynal, who had fought in the Third War as well, was nowhere to be found. Yet the dark, grimy fear of the unknown was growing in his heart, planting foul seeds of fear and depression. Angus buried his parents and left to traverse the lands of Kalimdor, trying to find himself once more.

Exactly a year after his sudden disappearance, Angus set foot in Nighthaven again. He had managed to soothe his mind and his heart, but they had not calmed and healed completely - even now these dark shadows of the past haunt his thoughts and dreams; the mark still remains burned deep into his shattered mind. The Night Elf settled down once more and continued to work in relative peace, firmly set on two at first glance altruistic causes - finding ways to heal the Night Elves' broken world and battling the Nightmare, a vicious threat born in the deep bowels of the dreaming land he, just like many others, had sworn to nurture and protect.
