Personality

Anala has been around for a relatively long amount of time, and as such is not prone to being swept up with the times. She has a general distaste for the younger generations that run off seeking adventure and companionship with the younger races, yet hardly spends her time in scolding the practices of such people. Anala doesn't quickly forget any offense or shortcoming of those around her, and expects those that she works with to perform with near perfection. Even so, years of combat with the Sentinels has taught her practicallity, especially in stressful situations, and she will hardly hesitate to do whatever is needed to protect her people, including sacrificing her own comrades or herself. She's very cautious to make friends, especially of other races, but when she does, she doesn't quickly forget them.

History

Anala was born from the union of a Blacksmith and a Sentinel warrior in the town of Astranaar five hundred and twelve years prior to the modern day. Born during the Long Vigil, and a time of normalcy and relative peace for the Night Elves, Anala had a comfortable upbringing. As a female, Anala was inducted into the Sentinels when she became of proper age, being trained to kill and protect in the name of Elune. Hundreds of years and conflict with the familiar Satyrs and other enemies of the Night Elves hardened Anala into a prestigious warrior and gave her an understanding of what sacrifice truly meant.

Sensing what she deemed a higher calling, Anala eventually left the Sentinel, and was extended a membership into the Watchers, joining them in guarding the Barrow Deeps and Illidan Stormrage. For hundreds of years she was isolated from the outside world, and only on rare occasion would she recieve any contact from the surface. As the world changed and matured, Anala remained underground, her only glance of the surface world was the land near the Barrow Deeps that she would be able to visit on some occasion.

It was on one such trip to the surface world that ultimately saved Anala's life. The Watchers hadn't recieved their usual upkeep from the surface, and as such, needed to understand why no supplies had been sent. Anala was sent to discover why. As she emerged from the Deeps, she was ambushed and taken prisoner by Satyrs that had taken residence in the land around the entrance to the caves. She was taken prisoner and tortured for two days for the enjoyment of the Satyrs. Eventually, the Satyr's tired of her pain, and planned on killing her. Yet, by some stroke of luck a Sentinel army, with the support of Druids and led by Malfurion Stormrage and Tyrande Whisperwind, arrived and the Satyr's were easily overwhelmed and slaughtered. Anala was set free and sent away from the Deeps, to the nearest Sentinel camp to recover from her ordeal. It was her first trip to the lands away from the Deeps in hundreds of years. She saw the forests corrupted and the furbolg twisted into mindless beasts of rage due to the recent work of the Undead and Burning Legion. The world she'd known was no longer.

When she had learned that the reason the Druids had been awakened, and of the Legion's return, Anala cursed herself for falling to the hands of the Satyr's, and resolved to recover quickly so as to take up arms with the rest of her comrades. Yet, it was not to be, and the Third War ended before Anala could fully heal. News eventually reached her of Illidan Stormrage's release from the Barrow Deeps at the hands of Tyrande Whisperwind. She immediately left the camp, as the majority of her wounds had recovered, and set out to return to the Deeps to inspect the scene for herself. What she saw shattered her faith and respect for the Sentinel, the Sisters of Elune, and Tyrande Whisperwind herself.

The bodies of her slain friends and fellow Watchers shattered her heart. The wounds they bore were from glaives and arrows of Night Elven craft, indicating to her that it was indeed her own people that had set the Betrayer free. It was not so much that Illidan had been set free as much as the Watchers had been betrayed by the very people they wanted to protect. Being thought dead by the remaining Watchers, Anala never received word about the hunt that Maeiv Shadowsong led to recapture Illidan.

Anala spent the past several years lieing below the radar, believing that if anyone learned of her existence, they'd want her dead. Independently she hunted the Orcs, or anything else she deemed to be an invader of Ashenvale Forest. Only recently has she returned to interact with her kin, as she feels that in these uniquely dark times she must be there for her people. Even so, she remains that enigmatic figure that has isolated herself for these many years.
