Personality

A devout, though eager and surprisingly rushed individual for a Kaldorei, Almariel is quick-witted, curious and benefits from the long-term view of things, common with most Night Elves. It’s not to say that she doesn’t think before she acts, but she doesn’t spend millennia she doesn’t have on her decisions, instead taking a philosophical approach and enjoying each moment as it comes.

Stubborn and adamant in her beliefs and convictions, she is quite hard to deter once her mind is set to something. Almariel is not shy of using violence if the cause is right in her eyes, and certainly not against the more unnatural creatures of the worlds, such as Unholy or Fellish ones. A very good talker, Almariel delights in trying to say the right things at the right time to the right people, and while her occasionally sharp tongue has led her to trouble in the past, she still enjoys speaking her way into and out of various situations.

Her views on the races are an amalgam of traditional Kaldorei views and newer enthusiasm for the Alliance’s peoples, with the sole exception of the Gnomes, whom she finds extremely dangerous to be around. As far as the Horde goes, she can tolerate most if she has to, but is prone to lashing out against Sin’dorei and Forsaken, physically or verbally, if such opportunity arises.

History

Born of the union between an armorer and a Priestess of the Moon, Almariel was quite the curious wide-eyed youth and thus proved a somewhat troublesome critter to take care of for her parents. Between fighting with a few other kids her age, ingesting the odd poisonous plant, and running home bruised and battered after tangles with the local wildlife, Almariel managed to develop enough respect and devotion for the faith of the Kaldorei that she asked to be allowed to learn its teachings.

As she grew, her studies guided her towards service in the Temple, and soon she was a part of the Sisterhood of Elune, a century passing before she became a full Priestess. She reveled in divine powers, and enjoyed doing whatever she could to help the people in her charge, be it through healing or by smiting down their troubles – the latter more often than not, though something still felt unwell for her.

The halls of a temple felt a little constrictive for the still-fiery Almariel, and as time passed she desired a more hands-on approach to her faith. After a particular night with her father’s armors, she decided she’d leave the Sisterhood of Elune and take up arms against the enemies of the Kaldorei with the Sentinels.

The transition went surprisingly smoothly. The Sisterhood of Elune decided she was unfit for administrative duties, and the Sentinels were happy to have someone who kept the faith and could wield the Divine, although not to the extent that most of the other Priestesses did, mainly due to inexperience.

More centuries passed, and Almariel spent her time honing her body, adapting her divine abilities to the Warrior’s arts and defending the Kaldorei, and soon, the first skirmishes with the Orcs occured. Almariel didn’t spend as much time on the battlefield as she felt she should’ve, though her path ended up leading her into the Battle of Mount Hyjal. She took part in the struggle there, and fled alongside the rest of her people when the Horn of Cenarius was sounded – though her mother was not as fleet of foot, and perished in the ensuing blast.

Angry at the loss of both family and immortality, Almariel quickened her pace through life. She managed to obtain an honorable discharge from the Sentinel Sisterhood, and rushed to the aid of the Alliance as a whole, in hopes of keeping the younger races safe – after all, if an enemy could tear eternity from the Kaldorei, who knows what they could do to the mortal races. During the following years, she became well-acquainted with the Alliance’s virtues, and a few of its darker sides, though all throughout, she kept to her faith, and continued practicing the only way she still knew: through righteous combat, seeing herself as a champion of her Goddess, a Warrior fighting in Elune’s name.

At one point in time, she’d joined the Alliance’s efforts in the North, serving aboard the Gunship there, the Skybreaker, up to the point of the death of the Lich King. Afterwards, enjoying the pay she got from the endeavor, she returned to the mainlands and continued her journey through life, a keeper of the faith by the edge of her blades, eager for more experiences.
