Personality

Alanthe is wary and cautious above everything else. She knows how to remain calm and is a very quiet person. She'd actually rather tries to outsmart opponents or chastise them, speaking her way out of situations before crossing the blade. She can turn out to be a quite deceptive haggler.. She's a very cunning elf, but she does have a creed and couldn't keep pretending very long. She is determined, though not too stubborn; she is pessimistic, though not suicidally.

She seems to have a distaste for everything around her, or just a smug attitude. It's nothing like the hatred she feels for orcs and Sin'dorei, of course, but she's always slightly withdrawn and arrogant. And while she does try her best to maintain a friendly face, it just often gets too hard when everything in her life has collapsed and there isn't even rubble to build back upon.

Alanthe has lost everything. Her nature as an immortal elf, her home, and even her mate. She is adapting to violently changing times and seems to loose her grasp on the events around her. That makes her extra edgy...and also without any purpose. She simply wanders and follows the trail of money or adventure, often both, hoping to be picked up along the way.

History

Alanthe's ancient story is shrouded in the mists of Kaldorei time. She was born a humble child to two dearly loving but fiercely fighting elves, and her first years were spent in a context of battling. She grew up as fierce as her mother and cunning as her father, and was quite the wild child by many accounts. She was given soon a sword and shield and was taught to fight, while she was also instructed quite strictly. She was no murderer, though, and she had remorse the first times she was given some prey to kill.

She nonetheless improved over time and when she came of age, she joined the prestigious Sentinels. This gave her family a sense of pride, as her mother has left the order a while before for reasons unknown. She enjoyed the thrill of adventure and wanderlust, as much as she loved her world - her Kaldorei world. Time passed, battles washed her down, but overall she led a quiet life, and soon she found herself a Druid mate. She came to love and protect him over the course of years he spent awoken. Very soon they made a very strong core, and while she provided food and was very down-to-earth, he was much more dreamy, and always eager to show her his findings. And often they did involve slaying some evil or nature-soiling beast or being. But as a druid, he soon went back to the Emerald Dream, leaving her alone for extended periods at times.

She kept on traveling, from Sentinel group to Sentinel group; for unfathomable decades they kept together, and his long returns to the Emerald Dream always made her wail in anguish. She was a gritted warrior, but she had her soft spots too. It was part of her life; spend every moment you can with the person you chose, and await every other moment awaiting for his return. And try not to get killed in the process. She coped with this fact, and had found an inner peace, though the threats to her kin were numerous and unrelenting.

More than a thousand years were spent in this lifestyle, but even the longest-lived eternities are bound to end. When the World Tree was threatened and Lordaeron was buried in undeath and felfire, she was quick to react. She parted from her mate a last time as he, with most druids, went to fix up the situation at Hyjal. She was, in the meanwhile, assigned another role - holding back demons and keeping control of a small pass in the mountain. Before they parted he gave her a gold necklace, which she kept around her neck ever since. She took her mission as professionally as ever. Her and her fellow Sentinels destroyed so many foes this day - but when the World Tree was forlorn, and she realized she would never see him again, she was struck down by the bitter aftermath.

Immortal to fragile, well-loved to solitary. The times just after the battle for Hyjal seemed terrible and sinister. She had been part of the force that saved Azeroth, but at what price? Her mate was likely dead, swallowed in flames; she found no tracks of her parents or relatives. Her immortal shell was broken. As time went by, her homelands became encroached by the Orcs, the Goblins, and she opened up to discover a world full of taint and greed. She isolated herself, brooding, for years, stunned in awe and disbelief. When her society began to change, she finally came out again, only to head off to the Eastern Kingdoms . What is left in her mind is a taste of sour revenge and the tale of a ruined soul. She is a purposeless husk, with Azeroth's fate as her only distraction.
