History

Aenyris was the daughter of the head of the house Mal'ethanis, at the time a reasonably well-known house of arcanists. From a young age she was taught the art of arcane magic, and while she was a slower learner than some of her peers, she excelled in what she did know, and was very patient. Lord Mal'ethanis had high expectations for her.

Aenyris's training progressed smoothly until the Scourge invasion of Quel'thalas. As house Mal'ethanis was rich in potent arcanists, many of them were called to assist in the defense of the elfgates, and finally Silvermoon itself. Aenyris herself was not called upon to assist; she was too young to participate in battle. Realizing defeat, Lord Mal'ethanis gathered the remaining members of his house and prepared to flee Silvermoon. However, they were intercepted by the Scourge as they tried to leave the city. A number of elves died, and Lord Mal'ethanis was crippled. The beaten and bloody house Mal'ethanis left Silvermoon in tatters.

Aenyris and her house regrouped with several other groups of high elves in Quel'thalas, where the land was still healthy, and they swore that from then on, they would be called blood elves. While a number of blood elves went with Kael'thas Sunstrider to perform errands, Aenyris stayed in Quel'thalas with her house. She did not help to reclaim Silvermoon. There was little that she could do, other than brood and skulk over her noble race's defeat. During this time she began to study demonic magic, and it came to her easily, being quite similar to the arcane magic she already knew.

Aenyris eventually returned to Silvermoon with her house. For the first time in months, she was able to rest easily. However, Lord Mal'ethanis had suffered a lot in the tumultuous times and the horrific events that had befallen him. By the time Aenyris returned to Silvermoon, he was very ill. It was clear that he would not live long, so the surviving elders of the now-diminutive house Mal'ethanis began to discuss who would succeed him. To Aenyris's shock and rage, she was not included on the list of possible candidates. However, she controlled her anger, and merely watched as her father died and was succeeded by a different, older arcanist. In Aenyris's eyes, they had taken her blood right from her.

She now bides her time, building up influence and resources so that she may one day be able to claim what is rightfully hers.
