Personality

Aemilia, overall, aims to be as supportive as possible to those close to her. She often tries to keep herself away from being the center of attention, being a relatively reserved noble. This stems out from her roots as a child in Arathi; she would often be an obedient child, doing whatever her parents might've told her to do.

Despite being a noble, she tries to be kind to those she may meet in order to not give off an appearance of a ‘snob'. As she grew up, this was always something she kept close to her; she didn't want to be viewed as such, and often goes out of her way to try and prove that she isn't.

History

Aemilia Marie Winthrop was born on an estate in the farmlands of Arathi. At the time, the Winthrop family was well off and moderately affluent in the Kingdom of Arathi. Aemilia, having grown into a prestigious family, often found herself with things being handed to her. Even at a young age, Amelia was often found as carefree as can be.

A few years after her birth, her training began. Her two parents wished to see her excel as a mage, like those of Dalaran. Thus, with a mentor in tow, Aemilia reluctantly began training. Her reluctance was mostly due to her young age, but that soon changed as she continued in her practices. Several years after first starting, she began to take her studies more seriously and wanted to please her parents with her training.

When the news reached the Northern Kingdoms of Stormwind's fall, Aemilia was already a bit below the average mage's power for her age. When the retreating people of Stormwind reached Arathi, the Winthrop family decided to house a fleeing noble family. The Calethos family of Stormwind was glad to find refuge with them. The Calethos Family, having a few mages as members themselves, helped Aemilia in her training then too.

As both families quickly became close friends, the parents of both families decided to marry Aemilia to the oldest child of the Calethos family. They had seen it as a way to ensure a bond between the two houses that were now good friends. Aemilia didn't have many feelings towards her "predetermined husband", Aulten, as a child herself. When the day of their wedding approached, she still didn't feel particularly satisfied. In the matter of a day, both families considered the couple “adults” and that's where Aemilia started believing it too. Their union was seen as a symbol of friendship to the actual adults, though.

As the marriage went on for several years, the Calethos and Winthrop families both prospered from the Winthrop estate. When the armies of the Horde invaded in the Second War, both families were nearly wiped out in their estate. The only survivors were Aemilia, her mother, her aunt, a cousin of hers, and her husband. They all fled to the immediate safety of Stromgarde. They remained in Stromgarde with other refugees until the war was over and the Alliance was victorious. While there were still four members of the Winthrop family left, the Calethos family had only Aulten, Aemilia's husband left.

After a bit of time, Aemilia and Aulten decided it would be better to leave to Stormwind. For Aemilia, this meant leaving her family and home behind. Eventually, they both did leave for the rebuilding city. When they both arrived in Stormwind, Aulten reclaimed Stormwind nobility in the name of the Calethos family, and he set his interests into rebuilding his family once more. By then, Aemilia had already grown very close with Aulten and was pleased to help him rebuild his family.

Life in the Southlands was something that took Aemilia quite some time to accustom herself to. After some time, she unearthed that Aulten had been practicing the arts of casting with fel since he was a child. She was alarmed at this, at first. With some persuasion on his part, she soon began to view his abilities differently; she saw them as a possible way to expand upon her training as a mage long ago. And so, she accepted his training as a warlock herself.
