Appearance

Usual Garments/Armor: Aelyn dons modest, but sophisticated robes most of the time. She's constantly looking for more protective clothing to keep herself safe. Whenever she goes drinking, she wears an elegant, rather revealing, purple dress that she wouldn't be caught dead in sober.

Other: She has an unfortunate, very noticeable scar on her left calve, which she denies the existence of. Often times she could be seen idly playing around with a soulshard. She's almost always bandaged around her chest and arms. She bears a tabard of the Sin'Dorei in honor of her race.

Personality

Almost all of the time, she appears to be inquisitive, friendly and full of energy. Underneath her cheerful exterior, the real Aelyn is sadistic, emotionally detached, insecure and manipulative. Aelyn is almost incapable of putting too much faith others, believing that if does so, they would perish like everybody else. She does try very hard to make (most of the time, false) friends, often manipulating them into doing things for her. Aelyn has very few true friends, as she has an extremely hard time trusting other people. She hates any undead with a burning passion. More often than not, she becomes paralyzed with fear whenever a seemingly more powerful Forsaken draws close. Around the 17th of each month, she goes drinking in attempts to pass over the date in a drunken stupor, to forget the painful memories associated with that date. A little more often than not, she goes drinking just for the hell of it, revealing much of herself to anybody that's willing to listen. Every time she draws close to The Dead Scar, she has a very difficult time maintaining her facade of cheerfulness and her real personality begins to emerge. She avoids the Scar whenever she can and crosses as quickly as possible when she must approach it. For the most part, she avoids the entire northern part of the Eastern Kingdoms entirely. Her favorite things are a good meal, a friendly conversation, and watching the suffering of her victims. Spending most of her time outdoors, she's fairly knowledgeable about the natural world, being able to live off the land for days by herself.

Never too clumsy, her steady hands and years of training make her a talented jeweler. If she knows that she couldn't take on an opponent, she would take a diplomatic approach in an effort to keep herself alive--and she does nigh anything to keep herself alive. Aelyn tries very hard to hide the scar on her leg, and if actually confronted, she would even outright deny the existence of it. As a form of sick therapy for the guilt she feels of being one of the few that survived, she secretly goes around slaughtering and torturing everything that seems weaker than her, filling her with a sense of control she so craves, and the magical energy her body is addicted to.

She does a good job of keeping her darker-side hidden, often playing dumb and lying to people about her actual prowess in the Fel-arts.

A secret hobby of hers is to collect soulshards from her slain victims; the trickle of energy flowing from the crystals helps her keep her resolve.

History

Aelyn Pureheart has always been your typical cheerful little elf girl. She's had a regular upbringing in a village just south of where Silvermoon is. She'd spend her days studying magic, eager to be a member of the magisterium in the city. She was slightly spoiled, like every other elf child, but she found humility as she was humbled by the towering trees around her.

On the fateful date of the Siege on Quel'thalas, Aelyn was awoken by screams of her fellow villagers and the howls of The Scourge. Her mother came upstairs into Aelyn's bedroom and dragged her out from under the covers. Utterly confused by what's going on, she demanded an explanation. Her mother tried to tell her that there was no time to fully detail the situation but she was crushed under a burning beam mid-sentence. As Aelyn ran out the door, she was assaulted by the horrendous scene of the Undead wreaking havoc on her peaceful village. She dove under an overturned wagon to hide, a large and sharp nail catching on her calve and tearing out a substantial chunk of flesh. From underneath her relatively safe hideout, she stared in horror as ghouls ripped apart many of her neighbors and friends. With this incident burned into her mind, she quickly developed an intense fear and hatred for all things undead, even for the Forsaken to some extent.

Out of sheer luck, she survived the siege. With no where to go and nothing left to her name, she scrambled around dazed, delirious, and weakened for days. As fortune smiles on her again, she was found, starving and broken, by an old, benevolent jeweler named Rohin Dawncaller. Taking the name, Dawncaller as her own, her caretaker quickly became her new father-figure. Her new guardian was an excellent jeweler and taught Aelyn many things about his chosen profession. She picked it up quickly and used the meticulous detailing and work involved to take her mind off of the tragedy of her mother's death. Still, as the date of the siege drew close each month, Aelyn has horrible, horrible nightmares about the incident that took the life of her mother, that leaves her ridden with guilt. She becomes withdrawn, very quiet and extremely defensive; not being able to focus on anything but jewel-crafting for a couple of days.

Only 2 years since she was taken in, her caretaker passed away, the store dissolved, and money became more of an issue. In attempt to teach her self-reliance, Rohin left Aelyn with nothing but his trusty kit, so she may continue her studies and maybe make some money. As if she does nothing but to distract herself from painful memories, she began to study with the Magisters of Silvermoon, reading countless volumes on the topic of magic. She discovered the high that comes with the use of fel-magic and thus associated the suffering of others to personal comfort. She became a warlock in lieu of her childhood dream of being a mage.

After a long day of "therapy" in the Silvermoon Ruins, Aelyn decides to go to the Inn at the City. There, she met the then unfamiliar face of Corporal Nephuria of the Redcraft Company. After a deciding conversation, she too, decided to join the guild. For once since the passing of her second Father, Aelyn's found companionship and comradery. Desperate to hold on to the feeling of belonging, she's very eager to do anything to further the goals of the company.

Unfortunately, recent events have caused the disbanding of the Company. This event was sort of the final straw, driving Aelyn away from the northern parts of the Eastern Kingdoms, the Eversong Woods and the Ghostlands for a while. She currently stays in Booty Bay, to reflect on herself. A few people have seen her wandering around Dalaran, oftentimes with no recollection of how she arrived there.
