Hair: Adele's hair is naturally jet-black in color and has a glossy sheen to it. She parts it down the center, the ends just reaching her shoulders. Her hair is very fine and stick-straight, and a section of defined bangs lies across her forehead. She keeps it neatly trimmed, though plain, typically keeping it well-maintained and orderly.

Eyes: Adele's eyes are a deep russet, dappled with copper flecks. Her eyes are large and prominent, especially standing out due to her dark features. They angle upwards at the ends and have a full eyelid, giving her an exotic look. She typically wears kohl and sometimes pigment on her eyes and eyelashes to darken and draw attention to her eyes, though not always. Weight: Adele weighs about 115 pounds, and is slightly underweight for her height. She is quite slender, but not emaciated.

Height: 5'7

Appearance

Adele is typically seen in robes of deep reds, blacks and purples. They are usually very finely embroidered and detailed, and are of Adele's own making. She enjoys using fabrics such as velvet, silk, or cotton modal. She also dabbles in Shadoweave, though saves those robes for specific occasions. Her favourite robe is a deep red silk high-necked robe with a black bodice and purple detailing on the sleeves, waist, hem, and red stole. Other times, she can be seen in simple pants and tunics, and she has a different robe for nearly any occasion or setting. She sometimes wears black fingerless gloves, and always black dress shoes. She is not shy about showing her body through her clothing choices, and can sometimes be seen bearing her stomach or back or a slit up the leg (though it is not out of sexual intention that she does so). She enjoys flashy clothing, albeit consistently dark in color, and soft, comfortable yet beautiful fabrics.

She carries with her two simple yet sharp, fierce looking steel daggers which she straps to her ankle, and one to her thigh. The blades are engraved with small runes and each has a poison-green peridot gemstone set where the hilt meets the blade. They are solid steel, the hilt wrapped in bleached leather and sheathed in the same. In casual pants and a tunic, she keeps one sheathed at her hip. When she wears a robe, however, she wraps them around her thigh and ankle on a tight buckled leather strap holding them there secure and concealed.

Adele has a heart-shaped face with a defined jaw line, high, full cheekbones and dark features. Her eyelashes and eyebrows are naturally raven-black and finely manicured and maintained. Her eyebrows arch dramatically, framing her eyes yet giving her a constantly intense expression. She has an exotic look to her due to her eyes, deep olive skin and an atypically petite frame. She has a fine rounded nose and pronounced naturally deep pink lips that are supple and smooth. Her mouth turns down slightly at the corner, giving her a pouty appearance when she holds her face normally. She has a pierced nose and left eyebrow which she keeps delicate silver hoops in. She also has silver studs in her lobes. A scar reaches from her left ear all the way down to a few centimetres from the corner of her mouth. It is faded and old but still visible to onlookers.

Her body is petite and lithe, possessing no real muscle mass but no real fat either. She is lean but fragile looking, with long limbs and an almost boyish figure. Her chest is small but visible in clothes, and she lacks defined hips and a waist. Adele's collar bone is pronounced and quite visible, as well as her hipbones. Her dark skin is smattered with a spray of ‘beauty marks' and she possesses a small birth mark on her left knee. Her fingers are long and delicate. She keeps her fingernails long and manicured, appearing to take special care of them in particular. Around her neck she wears a fine silver chain adorned with a simple garnet amulet. Along the chain as well is an ornately designed silver ring with a bright shining ruby set in the center. She wears a ring on her right hand middle finger matching the amulet, and a bracelet around her left wrist of small amethyst stones in a continuous link.

Adele has good posture and carries herself well, her lengthy limbs giving her a long graceful stride. She is persistent in holding herself in a way she considers to be well, and she always seems to be aware of what her body is doing. Her voice is raspy and deeper than some, and she has a slight southern accent. She usually speaks quietly but clearly, taking time to enunciate and use words that are perfectly tailored to her intention.

Personality

Adele can be critical and cynical of others, though she is known to be kind and good natured at times as well. She tends to prefer to remain mysterious to strangers and acts accordingly to those in her surroundings. She considers herself a ‘chameleon' in this respect, though to her close friends and allies she reveals her true nature. Sometimes manipulative and conniving, Adele ensures that she gets what she needs and wants for herself. Adele seems calloused to the world, coming off sometimes as harsh and cold. Her nature is very analytical and suspicious of others, and she judges quickly. She realistically cares little for others except for those she feels deserve her respect. She is very honourable, however, and will keep her word when she so rarely gives it to someone. A self-described realist and always calculating woman, she is always deliberate in her actions, always thinking before she does anything. She is very self-disciplined and hardworking, almost to a fault. She is quick to anger and easy to offend, though she is not insecure; most of her quick temper comes from others doing what she feels is wrong or inappropriate. An insult towards her is less likely to garnish disgust from Adele than a rude, intrusive question or action to her or somebody else in her surroundings. She has little tolerance for those she sees as below her, and often subtly mocks or disrespects people she feels are lesser. She tends to show quite a range of emotions, though if she feels uncomfortable or threatened she will hide them and revert to her ‘chameleon' facade. She seems to be very well versed in what is acceptable in most social situations, and is obsessive about seeming proper. She exudes an aura of intelligence and poise, though she also seems very intense and harsh. She values her education over all else.

History

Adele was born to a single, young mother in the Township of Lakeshire and given to her grandparents to care for her while she was still an infant. It was a relatively calm period of history that she was born, years after the second war and during the internment of the orcs. Her childhood was spent quite normally and happily, fishing and studying, making friends and exploring the outlying area. Her mother was only sixteen when she had had Adele and after having given her to her grandparent's care, she left Lakeshire. Her mother had been a light-skinned, blue eyed blond girl, and Adele learned from pictures that it was likely she took after her father, though she never knew who he was. Adele's mother is still presumed missing, though Adele and her grandparents both feel she is likely out living her own life, having forgotten about her family and responsibilities. Still, Adele's grandparents were loving and wonderful people, and loved their granddaughter like their own child. They affectionately called her Addy, a name which she did not allow anyone else to address her by, save her grandparents.

Her grandfather William was a blacksmith and former mercenary, and her grandmother Enid was a seamstress but also more secretively a retired student of the arcane. Enid had been quite gifted in her day, though she had given up her studies to settle for a more simple life. They lived a comfortable life, the three of them, and Enid and Adele were like partners as well as family. Enid began training Adele in the arts of the arcane when she hit her teen years, and tutored her in school as well as tailoring. Adele excelled in all of her studies, and gradually grew into a motivated, hard-working, mature young woman.

Time wore on, as it does, and both she and her grandparents grew older. Her grandfather had fallen ill, and Adele was charged with his care as her grandmother was now the primary source of income and needed to work many hours to support them. Adele's studies were put on hold, and instead of spending her time outdoors or with her nose in books, she now spent her time shut in. She began harbouring feelings of resentment and unhappiness, though she learned quickly to keep her feelings inside for the sake of her ailing grandparents. She also began to resent her mother for leaving her and her family in such a situation, and she seemed to sink into a brooding depression. As Adele was reaching her fifteenth year of life, the sudden unexpected scourging of Lordaeron began. Suddenly, throughout her town, her safe haven, was a feeling of uneasiness. She stood by as her grandfather became increasingly sick, and her grandmother deteriorated as well due to overworking herself. They did not have the commodities they once had, having had to sell some of their belongings to make ends meet. Adele's concerns with her family and nation's safety grew, and she began practicing with weapons despite her tall, lanky frame. She still retained her knowledge of the arcane, but without any teachers or resources, she felt she needed to take alternate measures.

Things took a turn for the worst when Adele's grandmother suddenly became ill as well. Feeling powerless and overwhelmed, Adele became cold and bitter, a far cry from the girl she once was. Her aggression and impatience grew, and she developed a hot temper. The civil war and the scourge were raging on in the northlands and word spread that Lordaeron had fallen. The world seemed to be slowly crumbling away at Adele's feet, and she felt helpless to stop it. Years went by, her grandparents slowly becoming bedbound and ghostly shadows of their former selves. Their house was now bare, Adele struggled to keep food in the cupboards, provide for them all, and attempt to maintain her sanity. It was at this time she met a young man that would change the course of her life forever.

She never truly knew the man, only as he intended for her to know him. He had caught her eye as she was making a trip to purchase new blankets for her grandparents from money she had made selling fish earlier that morning. He was older, a tall handsome man in dark, beautiful robes with shocking green eyes, a wicked smile and flawless olive skin. He was standing on the corner, simply seeming to be people watching. She smiled sheepishly at him, and blushed profusely when he flashed a smile to her and came striding over confidently. He asked her name, and they began to make small talk. He offered to help her carry her new blankets home, and she accepted. As they walked, he began to ask questions about her education and then her knowledge of the arcane, and as they reached her house, he gave her a look, as if measuring her up. He then asked to see her the next day, and Adele accepted. She rushed inside, tending to her chores and looking forward anxiously for the next morning.

After ensuring her grandparents had what they needed for the afternoon, she met Elias (as he had introduced himself, though it was not his real name as Adele later learned) at the same corner he had seen her the day before. For a long while in the summer months, they courted this way often meeting for walks or for meals. Soon, Adele began to truly invest a lot of herself and her time into Elias, making dreams and plans for the future and thinking things were finally starting to be good again. After a number of months progressed, Elias spoke to her very seriously about her situation in life. He knew she was impoverished and seemingly uneducated, and it was then he spoke of a way to regain her power and further her education. Listening intently, she fell prey to her trust in him and was seduced by his promise of power and restoration of all those things she missed. She did not know that it would eventually lead to her family's ruin. He offered himself as a teacher at no cost, and asked her to bind herself to him in a contract of sorts. She agreed, and as he walked her home that day, Elias told her that their lessons would begin soon.

Elias slowly introduced Adele, step at a time, to the idea of mastering shadow magic and becoming a warlock, much as one acclimatizes themselves to a cold pool of water. She fell deeply into the appeal of the power that it offered to her, and eventually spent more and more of her time away from home and her ill grandparents. She became elusive and secretive with them, knowing that if they truly had an idea what she was up to they would be disappointed in the worst way. Many more months past, and it seemed she took even better to fel magic than she did to the arcane. She became completely absorbed by her studies, almost to excess, and developed such a hunger for knowledge and advancement of power that it changed her in ways that would never be undone.

One morning after she had come home late in the night after her studies, she found her grandmother had passed away in her sleep. Devastated by the loss and tormented by the guilt of it, she spent the next few weeks at home with her severely ailing grandfather, before he too passed on, according to Adele, of a broken heart. Guilt-ridden and depressed, Adele felt more alone at that time than she would ever feel in the rest of her life. Elias, seeing this as an opportunity to seduce her completely into her studies, approached her about her studies again.

“Adele, you are squandering your time locked away in this empty house. You have much more to offer this world than to mourn for the rest of your life. Even now, great things you could not possibly fathom are in the works; all it takes is for you to seize it. They are gone now. This is all you have left.”

Seeing no other choice and consumed by her loneliness and guilt, she agreed to join Elias again and poured all of her grief, guilt, anxiety and resentment into her studies, obsessively learning and setting goals, consistently reaching them. After a long time passed, one morning Elias simply vanished. He had been living in Adele's house with her, since she had a separate room. One morning, his things were gone, and there was only a simple note scribbled with what appeared to be a name, and underneath the word “Elwynn”. She never heard from Elias again. She seemed not to even blink at this turn of events, strangely, claiming that she has lost so many things in life that she had become numb; if everything else had been taken from her, why not him as well? Eventually, she sold her home in Lakeshire and used the small amount of money to relocate to the outlying areas around Stormwind in Elwynn, where she found the person named by Elias; another master of shadow magic. Evidently, he had intended for him to become her new instructor. Over time, she became extremely focused and proficient in her craft and more recently was pointed in the direction of new, greater instruction.

A few years have passed, and Adele has now grasped an understanding of herself and her goals, and she practices shadow magic with fervour though she is still conflicted about her past. She mostly deals with it by feigning acceptance of those consequences and pouring herself into the advancement of her powers. She carries a dark side with her everywhere she goes, though she has managed to integrate herself very well into the normal ranks of society. Conflicted, she seeks power, yet she also seeks to atone for her past sins. She seems to always be seeking something, however unattainable, to fill an emptiness she keeps privately inside.
