Skills and Abilities

Richelle has been taught and trained to use various forms of different weaponry. She has learned how to wield two handed swords, crossbows, a sword and shield combination and as last resort, simply unarmed combat. She is able to use those weapons from both foot and horseback.

Out of the towns and cities she can easily survive camping for a few nights, having learned how to hunt, build and cook on campfires, to make a basic shelter and to ration what other supplies she has left.

Appearance

Richelle can most commonly be seen in plate armor, a set from her former house which she keeps in clean and perfect condition. The plate is grey with gold details and over it she wears the Arathor tabard with full intention of showing her nationalistic pride. She has various weapons at her disposal but they all fall within the same color range. Her shield is the most treasured object of her equipment, as a single red ruby has been inlaid in the midst of it. It has been enchanted to be much more durable, so that a sword or bolt cannot damage the gem. The gold of her shield represents Arathor, whereas the ruby represents Stromgarde with all its might and glory.

Alternatively, when not wearing plate she prefers to wear darker colored shirts and pants. Even off-duty she carries at least one weapon with her preferred one being a single handed sword. When wearing these simple clothes, she has a bright yellow pin at heart height, the symbol of Arathor. (It is shaped to resemble the mid-arch on the Arathor Battle tabard)

Other: Her sword hilt has a small loop in it at the very end, and through it she has tied an insignia which resembles House Baerth’s sigil. (A silver gryphon)

Personality

Richelle is a tough and confident woman, having lived and grown up in a constant war. She has killed, lost and bled all while fighting for her beliefs and homeland. Her voice carries her confidence whenever she speaks and she stands behind every word that leaves her lips. As such she may occasionally linger before replying as she thinks her words through. Unless otherwise instructed by a superior, she speaks her mind freely and directly. Feeling that anyone born outside of Arathi has to earn her trust first, those from within have an easier time around Richelle.

Her love for her nation runs to the very core of her being, and anyone openly badmouthing her nation will find themselves in a fight rather quickly. She would not murder a person for it but a few fractures and bruises will put the person in place rather quickly. Richelle believes Arathorian blood is proper blood, and that anyone who has not been born in its villages or the city of Stromgarde to be of lesser value. If she were to be placed in the position where she could save one commoner from Stromgarde or one from any other kingdom of nobility, she’d save her nation’s comrade without a moment of thought. Her one true love is Arathor, and she’d die for it without a doubt.

While she is a serious person, those that earn her trust will find that there is some lighter hearted person behind the tough appearance. She can share a few jokes, can easily drink a dwarf under the table and enjoys a good competition. Richelle is far from a sore loser when she is beaten in an honest manner, but when she suspects foul play she’s quick to throw a few punches and equal the score. Her education and training over the years has instilled a few morals of chivalry within her character, which she refuses to break under any circumstance.

- Arathorian blood goes before all other blood. - Acknowledge authority and nobility by addressing your betters by rank or title. - At all times, speak the truth. - Never break a promise, no matter the circumstance. - Fight not for glory or wealth, fight for your nation instead. - Respect the honor of men and women. - Be an example, let your morale never falter in the presence of others.

History

Thirty six years ago Richelle was born in a small farming village on the outskirts of Stromgarde. Her family only consisting of her father, mother and older brother at the time. Their roots travelled all the way back to the founding of the seven kingdoms, only much had been forgotten nor had they ever managed to acquire status of any kind. The village served one of the many noble houses in the region who dabbled in politics and decided the best actions for the village on a daily base. Obedience was a trait Richelle quickly learned by her harsh education, her parents loving but unforgiving. Richelle was destined to become a soldier for the house, and as such had to learn to be tough and overcome her fears if she ever was to survive.

At the age of twelve, Stromgarde was overrun and destroyed. The nobles that previously had served and guided the land only seemed to bicker with each other instead of fighting the enemy and Richelle ended up losing her home within Arathi. She had only just started to fight with bladed weaponry, having practised with sticks the two years before. Both of her parents were killed in the assault but together with her older brother she managed to escape the rampaging Horde. They fled south, through the wetlands to Loch Modan which was on the edge of being overrun itself some months later.

With the strength of the dwarfs they ultimately succeeded in keeping the area but her older brother lost an eye in the process. Being caught up in this war and having lost almost everything dear to her, Richelle’s training resumed in a much more demanding and rough pace. She’d often try to sleep at night on bruised legs and arms from training which had been picked back up by her older brother.

At the age of eighteen Richelle’s training had come a long way, and she felt it was time to make herself useful. On her travel back to Arathi she and her brother were conscripted into a noble house that tried to reclaim the area. She would learn further about tactics, mounted combat and was given a full set of armor and weaponry to use. Her manners, obedience and morals served her well during the skirmishes and she rose through the ranks, to eventually be honored with the title of Dame at the age of twenty six. She had proven herself to be courageous on the field and quick to adapt to any situation, having both saved and lost lives with her actions. Her brother was one she had lost to the Horde who had fallen to an archer; the arrow had ripped right through his helmet.

Dame Richelle of Arathor, she still had to get used to the title but spoke it with great pride. She had been given an enchanted shield after the ceremony, and would use it to fight for her house. Her House responded to the invasion of Stromgarde, the city her lord originally came from. Wishing to guard and rescue his comrades, they send in an all-out assault. Richelle knew they were underpowered and outnumbered, death was certain but her courage did not falter. She fought the Syndicate, Ogres and Trolls within the area and kept up the attacks despite losing more of her house each day.

It was a lost battle from the start and when the call of retreat was finally given, the house its soldiers had been brought back to a mere handful. They were in no shape to fight any more, wounded and fatigued as out of the five men that responded to it, two didn’t survive the trip out of the region and died from their wounds. An archer, her lord and herself made it out of the region, and just when they thought it was all over, were ambushed by a small patrol. With her last bit of strength she fought of her attackers, only to realize that she was the only one left breathing at the end. Her house had fallen.

In the ten years to come, Richelle recovered from her wounds and fought on various other front lines. For a brief period of time she wandered around and lent her sword where it was needed in Elwynn, Westfall, Duskwood and Redridge. She took the time to come to terms with everything that had happened over the last few years before moving back north. She fought in Dun’Morogh and the Wetlands before deciding to finally travel back into her home region, Arathi. There she joined the forces at Refuge Pointe to aid out in any way she could, till word reached her of a promising noble.

In the last weeks she spend her time searching for Tobias Baerth and upon finding him offered her abilities to the house. She was to fight for a house once more, and would perhaps this time, reclaim all of Arathi and restore Arathor.
