Personality

Alignment: Lawful Evil

Uther Fairfax is greedy, ambitious, deceitful, proud and bloody. Virtue belongs to the strong, rich and beautiful, in his worldview. Justice and religion mean nothing to him, but he will pretend they do. As a knight he lives by the sword, and that lifestyle comprises his best talents and skills. He is charming to those he considers steps on the ladder to wealth or power. Otherwise he tends to ignore or treat most people like trash. Empathy is absent. Power drives him. Problematically, he lacks a sense of foresight. This leads him to make repeated, self-destructive mistakes.

History

Born to Sir Uther Beaumont Fairfax and Arianna Claire Cardon, Uther is title-holder of House Fairfax. It was a loving and happy home. Only Uther's departures to foreign lands for war interrupted their joy. Arianna cared deeply for her children: Uther, the oldest, Arianna, and Jon the youngest son. Their father was a proud and strong man who ruled with principle.

It was inevitable: at age six Uther realized he was fundamentally different from the people that surrounded him. Playing with swords stolen from an armory in a nearby courtyard, two older noble boys fought for fun. In an unfortunate moment, an arm was cut off. Panicking, the other boy ran away. Uther couldn't help but raise an eyebrow; he felt no stress. Despite hearing the desperate pleas, he felt no empathy. The boy bled to death. Later, when the beatings from his father stopped, Uther came to understood his uniqueness, and the pretense he must play. Since that time Uther has lied through his teeth. He disdains these restraints, and enjoys deceiving those who believe in justice, morality, religion and duty.

Until age eighteen he underwent the political, religious, social and financial training of a noble and an up-and-coming knight. He read books on warfare and manners, history and philosophy. His days were filled with learning, church attendance, and so forth. The only activity which brightened his day was that of sparring and martial practice. In the field, he excelled. This continued until he was nineteen years old, when he was allowed -- chafing under his father -- to fight in a war.

At age nineteen he ventured to Northrend with the Valiance Expedition, and under the leadership of Highlord Bolvar Fordragon fought against the scourge at Icecrown Citadel. After the war ended and Uther returned to Stormwind, he received commendation and knighthood for his service. His father was proud, and Uther glowed in the status he had earned.

A year later his father died of illness, passing the mantle on to his oldest son. Uther felt relieved at the loss of what he considered a constraint. Two years passed, and he continued to amass wealth through business ventures in overseas trading. He became bored, however, from the lack of war.

With time, the family noticed how callous Uther was; he had forgotten them. However, since his father's death, Uther has continued to leave them a modest monthly fund.

Then, without warning, the Sundering and the renewal of conflict between the Alliance and Horde came. Unlike most, Uther saw these events and developments as opportunities.
