History

Tharnul Arinae, born in Quel'Thalas, worked most of his young adult life in the Silvermoon library. He was a gifted, bright young elf with a taste for knowledge. His mother a librarian and his father a shopkeeper, their family name didn't amount to much but the name Arinae was appreciated for quality work amongst the few that knew the name. Tharnul, being the only child of the family, was well taken care of and he never had to seek attention. As he grew older he found his life becoming more about books and less about social interaction. Tharnul grew unsocial and weird in behavior. He preferred manner and etiquette instead of a real genuine social interaction. This left him to be the odd man out, the one who gets picked on. But this is not how Tharnul viewed himself, he didn't see himself as the odd man out. Instead he saw himself as the only person with the answer to everything, which of course only made things worse. Whether he was made fun of for his weird behavior or something else, there were areas were Tharnul was appreciated. Tharnul showed great talent in conflict solution and politics. His work at the library was appreciated and Tharnul grew up to his family name, quality work. Even if it was not rewarded by money nor wealth.

Tharnul went to school like many of his peers, he worked during his free time aiding his mother in the library. Tharnuls unique set of skills was noticed when in school he showed great talent in enchanting and inscription, his work in the library was greatly valued for he found solutions to logical problems no one had thought of and his demeanor in fencing was short of perfect. Unknown to the Arinae family, Tharnul had been spotted by the magistry. Yes, he would have been offered the change to join the magistry from a very young age but where as his knowledge and skills were the very best of his class, they were no match for his snotty behavior and he himself being a downright brat. Had Tharnul been aware of this, surely he would have done anything to change the facts. But alas, he was too busy staring at his own belly.

So, Tharnul grew to be a powerful enchanter and a scribe. He took over her mothers work in the library, allowing her mother to retire. Much to Tharnuls own satisfaction, the library saw a drastic change. The librarians were suddenly under strict etiquette and dress codes. Demeanor and appearance were more important than anything. Many saw this as a weird style of leadership but as long as it was working, no one intervened. It was during this time that Tharnul became interested in more powerful magic, he began to read immersive amounts of literature regarding fel magic and shadow casting. His eyes devoured every book that had to do with demonology and dark arts. His interest into these subjects grew and he wanted to enroll back into school. He wanted to become a warlock. But alas, life is what happens in between the plans you make.

When the war reached Eversong woods and the armies of the Scourge loomed ever closer, Tharnul having no combat training was forced to retreat as a refugee like any other civilian. He had to escape from the war and he sought refuge from Ghostlands. Much of the details are lost in time but what is know of Tharnul Arinae during the sundering is this; He lost both of his parents. Tharnul was crippled by this and he fled further away from his friends and any kind of social contact, he fled to Outland to Shattrath City and and nothing was heard of him for some time.

-Recent past- Details are unknown but Tharnul re-surfaced in Azeroth soon after the newly named Sin'Dorei were called back to Silvermoon and the deception of Kael'Thas had been revealed. Tharnul, bitter, unsocial and more stuck up than ever before marched his pompous behind back to Silvermoon. His interactions with people left them usually snickering or outright laughing as his behavior was too seriously concentrated on the proper etiquette and mannerism. When he made a scene about an elf not using his napkin correctly whilst eating, the laughter of others scarred him deeply. Tharnul was still very devoted on becoming a warlock but his time mourning for the loss of his parents and protecting himself from the war had left his studies non-existent. Tharnul withdrew himself deeper into books and non-animated objects. Life was a mystery to him.

It was around this time that Tharnul came to befriend a Sin'Dorei rogue, named Valen. The two were like opposite images of one another but through a few bizarre events, the two came to tolerate each other and eventually they became friends. Tharnul still had not learned to keep his mouth shut and tried relentlessly to teach the young rogue some manners and etiquette for Valens behavior to Tharnul was that of a savage. The rogue found this greatly amusing.

Tharnul, being a self taught sage by now, held learning in great value. And as Valen and Tharnul were driven into situations, Tharnul began to learn things from the ill-mannered rogue. A few of them worth mentioning for they changed Tharnul in a profound way. Tharnul had little interest towards the world outside of Eversong, he saw it as a wasteland and he thought the other races as lesser, much like any other Sin'Dorei would. So when Valen managed to persuade Tharnul to travel abroad, this was a life altering event for Tharnul. When he encountered the orcs and their brutish behavior for the first time. When he was forced to exchange words with a human. When he had to use a blade in combat for the first time and not in a fencing class. Tharnul met real danger for the first time in his life, of course he ran away screaming but his coward-like escapes aside, Tharnul learned all the time and he realized, his black and white way of thinking was all but correct. He learned about survival, that stealing was sometimes justified when one needs to stay alive. He learned that blindly following the orders of your superiors was not always the right thing to do. He learned that sometimes an innocent person dies and that evil triumphs. These seemingly minor events, events that happen around Azeroth all the time, changed the elf in a profound way. He began to understand how silly and objective his world view was. Tharnuls demeanor began to change, little by little. Manners and etiquette were now something he placed in great value but no longer did he shout and demand them from the roof tops. With Valens friendship Tharnul learned to understand and value those who were oriented to combat. Those who were oriented to war. Tharnul befriended Krilari Dawnsend and Isadorian Hearthstride. Krilari, a warrior with a conscience, a paladin. Tharnul judged the paladin for not knowing proper manners nor dress codes for certain occasions but by know he had learned to keep his mouth shut, most of the time anyway. Tharnul instead took to learning from his friends, instead of judging and scolding them all the time. Tharnuls skills and knowledge began to show as his prima donna like behavior began to lessen. Where Krilari Dawnsend was somewhat of a gentleman in the eyes of Tharnul, Isadorian was not. The young female Sin'Dorei seemed reckless, spiteful and down right mean to Tharnul. Tharnul and Isadorian did not get along. When ever the opportunity presented itself, which were few, the two would hurl remarks at one another, seeing who could get away with the last word. Isadorian and Tharnul were friends only because they had friends in common. Where Valen or Krilari was, there would also be Tharnul and Isadorian, and for this the two had to tolerate each others company.

These 'odd friendships' as Tharnul liked to call them, began to get in the way of Tharnuls studies. When ever he wished to lock himself up into a room with nothing but books of fel magic surrounding him, his concentration was always interrupted. Whether it was a serious problem or a minor one, these strong-willed friends of Tharnul always managed to lure him away from his studies. They did not do this on purpose but as it was said earlier 'life is what happens in between the plans you make.' And Tharnul was no exception. With time, Tharnuls attention began to shift. No longer did he try to escape the company of others to study alone but he started to enjoy helping others, especially his friends. This slowly brought his attempts to study the fel magic in to a complete halt and Tharnuls plan of becoming a warlock was snuffed out. Having learned so much from these odd elves that were so different from himself, Tharnul only hoped they had learned something from him, although he greatly doubted it. These great adventures Tharnul got to experience with his friends were greatly different from reading books. Just as Tharnul had learned to enjoy the company of others, no matter how different in personality, disaster struck.

Valen, Tharnuls oldest friend, was killed. This group of friends was brought to its knees at the loss and this tightly bound group began to crackle at the seams. Tharnul found himself outside the group, observing others now as they slowly recovered and went on with their lives. Tharnul too tried to recover and found himself back in Silvermoon library, working days and nights. In Silvermoon, Tharnuls change did not go unnoticed, the once 'higher than thou' snotty nosed prat had changed completely. He was considerate towards people, polite as ever but not demanding it from others and he was down right kind. But Tharnul was haunted by the loss of his friend. He did not find enough distraction in the work he had in the library so he applied to work for the city of Silvermoon. And as luck would have it, the magistry welcomed Tharnul with open arms, he after all had records that spoke highly and now he had the behavior to match his records. Tharnul not only found the distraction he so dearly sought working as a magister, he also found himself elevating his family name amongst the average into the group of nobles.

It is not quite true when earlier it was mentioned that Tharnuls friends went on with their lives.. well, all but one did. Whilst Tharnul was busy distracting himself, Isadorian Hearthstride, the unlikely friend of Tharnul, was all but recovered from the loss of Valen. She was in ruins. Tharnul kept in contact with Isadorian, doing all he possibly could to help Isadorian for it was actually a promise he had made to Valen when he was still alive. And Tharnul was determined to keep his promise which lead him to the ends of the world trying to help Isadorian. Sometimes Tharnul helped, sometimes his presence resulted in the opposite. The two were forced to spend time together as Tharnul refused to leave her alone.

This series of events had led the two people, who did not much care for the company of each other, together. And together, through hell and back, Isadorian and Tharnul grew to share a bond like no other. The things they found so annoying in one another soon turned into genuine interesting qualities that they cherished. In Tharnuls world, an unstoppable force had met an immovable object and from the explosion that resulted, the perfect relationship was forged.

Tharnul, now more often referred as Magister Arinae, has returned to Silvermoon with a newfound courage for challenges and keen sense of duty to aid Silvermoon and its citizens.
