Appearance

Ormodin almost always wears his plate mail armor, due to the fact that he’s almost always certain to meet conflict. He also wears the tradition tabard of Iron Forge as well as the traditional cloak that accompanies it. When leading expeditions or battle formations he may also be seen carrying a banner for Iron Forge. When Ormodin is found in times of peace he can be seen wearing linen shirts as well as cloth and wool garments. He tends to favor simple clothes that won’t look out of place should he spill a large mug of ale or get some cheese stains here or there. The large Dwarf likes darker clothes tending to steer clear of bright flashy colors, simply because he finds them very Elfish in nature.

Other: His height and size stand out to most though nothing overly special he does use his large size to his advantage when it comes to throwing his weight around. Ormodin also has a large star shaped scar on top of his head just above his right ear where a piece of Orc shrapnel grazed him during war times. He wears the scar proudly along with several others beneath his armor on his back and upper left arm, one from an Orcs axe and four more from explosions and shrapnel that caught him in the field.

Family: Ormordin is a single Father, his youngest son lives in Iron Forge and is a member of the guardsmen who patrol the city streets making sure the citizens are safe.

Personality

He tends to be light hearted when caught off the field of battle. In his free time he can be found at “The Stonefire Tavern” where he enjoys drink, the occasional card or dice game, poetry, jokes, and a good old fashioned fist fight now and again. If he gets drunk enough a war story tends to slip from his bearded lips. Ormodin though light hearted off the field is a much different Dwarf come war times. The veteran is a stout warrior and excellent tactician when it comes to planning an assault or siege. His knowledge of travelling and protecting the explorer’s league when headed into hostile territory has made him a fearsome guerilla fighter. Upon taking the field his personality changes from hearty to cold steel, he takes the safety of those he travels with seriously and will defend them with his life. Ormodin loves an underdog in a fight and is not afraid to voice his opinion should he feel someone is getting the short end of the stick. His mind set in a fight is not one of surrender; he will stand his ground and shakes for no one.

History

Ormodin was born as most all Dwarves were. His Mother and Father were nothing special in the eyes of their people; they lived your average lives and bore six children two sons and four daughters. All of Ormodin’s kin have been slain by foul forces in some form or another. His brother fell during the First War cut down by Orc Berserkers while his sisters were murdered by an Orcish raiding party that stormed a travelling caravan of Dwarven merchants bringing supplies to aide in the war effort. Before Ormodin became a Paladin for the Holy Light he became a Warrior, through a blood soaked and painful birth was he truly born into the weapon he is today.

Ormodin towered among his siblings and in his early years his Father worked him harder for it teaching him the value of a hard day’s work. It wasn’t until he neared manhood that his Mother suggested Orm take up arms and learn to become a soldier, however, fearing for Orm’s life his younger kin spoke openly about condemning the idea. This caused great tension in the house. What finally drove the hulking Dwarf into his first years of service was his Father who told him that if he did not honor his family’s banner upon the battle field then it would mean his younger brother would have to take up the mantle. Orm loved his little brother and would protect him from any harm; his Father knew this and used it to his advantage when trying to convince the boy. With a heavy heart Orm left home joining the ranks for proper soldier training. Ormodin lead a lengthy war career before his younger brother joined him on the front line despite Orm’s objection to the idea, together they would face down a new enemy as the Orc Hordes stormed north through Khaz Modan. Within the first fort night of battle Orm’s younger brother had been cleaved half in two and lay dead along with so many others. This took his mind to dark places as he questioned his beliefs in himself and his choices as a soldier charged with protecting his fellow warriors as well as the citizens. Ormodin developed hatred for this new green foe which combined with his vicious battlement earned him quick ranks in the military. Orm’s size and natural strength were only augmented by his training as a steel forged dwarven warrior. With a strong axe arm Orm fought hard against the Orc armies along with his fellow Dwarves. Although the Orcish fiends were beginning to prove relentless in their march towards northern lands, Ironforge reached out to the humans of the surrounding lands and from this an Alliance was formed along with the Gnomes. This is where Ormodin’s life would take a drastic turn.

After joining with the Humans a strange man named Archbishop Alonsus Faol began to teach the ways of the Light to the Dwarves. Ormodin was drawn to this calling for holy warriors that were given the title Paladin. Along with his Dwarven brethren Orm learned to master the ways of the light and so devoted himself to it. However darkness yet remained festering in his heart that was only fueled after hearing of his four sisters deaths at the hands of the foul Orc. Ormodin seized the chance to join the newly forming army of Paladins that were to be called “The Knights of the Silver Hand”. Allied with his new holy battle hardened brothers Ormodin joined the Alliance in beating back the Orc Horde to reclaim Stormwind for the Humans. After shattering the portal trapping the Orcs in Azeroth Ormodin returned north with the Silver Hand as the Alliance humans imprisoned the remaining Orcs in labor camps. Having tasted victory Ormodin returned home only to find that age had finally claimed his Mother and Father. Great sadness took ahold of him as he laid them to rest but through his beliefs in the light Orm was able to overcome his grief and later rejoin with his Paladin brothers of the Silver Hand. Peace was to be short lived for the Dwarf.

Darkness had risen again in the form of a vile plague that ravaged the land after being released by the foul caster Kel’thuzad. With little hope of saving Stratholme and Lordaeron Ormodin did what he could to ease those that suffered as did all members of the disbanded Silver Hand. As the Paladins fought the coming darkness seeds of evil had been growing within their ranks, the young Prince Arthas turned on them slaying his Father and Uther proclaiming himself the new Lich King leader of the scourge. Ormodin sought to flee the growing scourge as did all members of the Alliance. He retreated west only to find that while evil ravaged the Alliance by destroying Lordaeron, Dalaran, and Quel’thalas a second foe had risen against the world. This foe was unlike any he had faced before; it called itself the Burning Legion and the ranks consisted of Hellish Demons bent on nothing but chaos and total destruction of all life. Ormodin watched as all he had come to love and defend was ripped away in one crushing blow. Baring heavy weight with a battle hardened mind, body, and soul Ormodin along with many others rallied as they prepared for a final battle.

The Alliance needed allies and so they found them in the awakened druids of the Night Elves and a newly formed Horde. Together the races of Azeroth banned together in the battle of Hyjal as they defeated Arthas along with his scourge and banished the Burning Legion from their realm. After the long bloody fight to reclaim what had been lost Ormodin returned home no longer the young naïve Dwarf that sought war and was eager for battle to come. He returned home older, wiser, and steady in his beliefs of life. The now elder Dwarf took a woman who birthed him a son before passing in child birth. Grief once again struck him hard but once more he beat it back as he prepared to raise his son alone. Ormodin’s son grew up in a military life and joined the armies of Ironforge much like his Father had in his youth. Over the years Orm kept in contact with what members survived from the Silver Hand though most had joined the Argent Dawn. The Argent Dawn tried to get Orm to join their ranks but it did little to interest him. Since his return to Ironforge he has pledged his service to the great forge and now serves as a battle hardened veteran to the great dwarven city under the mountain. In his free time he can be found at “The Stonefire Tavern” where he enjoys much drink and the occasional war story from days long passed.
