Personality

Maro is a happy-go-lucky guy, seeing joy and humor in just about everything. He can be seen as somewhat lazy, maybe even with a bit of a procrastination streak from time to time. Maro is also insanely fond of fine foods, rich drinks, and leisurely activities. He is, also, not very fond of Frost or Fire mages, or any mage using magic to destroy, seeing them as "far too numerous, without any taste for true magic".

The elf is also and outdoors type, to a degree. He's not particular with scholarly pursuits, choosing to be hands on, rather than learn from a book. Maro can also make fast friends, easily finding things in a person to like. Some might call him a coward, even Maro himself from time to time, as he prefers to remain behind the front lines, providing logistical support instead of doing the "gruntwork".

Alignment: Neutral Good

History

In West Silvermoon, born and raised, Maro spent most of his days in one of the great Libraries. The young elf grew up without much complication, though he had begun to take interest into the arcane arts. On his sixteenth birthday his parents finally caved in and bought him passage to Dalaran, so that he could study and become a great wizard. Upon his arrival, young Maro Starcaller was easily impressed by the great towers, the domed houses of learning, the many schools that taught all manner of magics.

When he arrived, Maro had discovered that his mentor was to be an elderly human named Orsin Dels, a sorcerer from the Kingdom of Azeroth. Dels was a strict man, holding Maro to tight deadlines, making sure that his young pupil did everything by the book. Maro resented him, but at the same time he was ready to soak in everything he could.

After a decade, Orsin Dels had eventually retired as his age grew too much for him. Maro decided to attend one of the colleges, so he could learn all manner of magics at the same time. Quickly he had found he had no taste for destructive magics like fire, frost, or earth. He, instead, had found a great calling towards the energies of raw arcane. Even further, Maro had found he had a talent for Portal magics. Over the years Maro had learned the ways of the Portal Mages, learning to open tears into the fabric of reality to get from Point A to Point B.

Roughly a hundred years later, Maro had made good friends with a Dwarven Arcanist by the name of Renald Deepflame. This dwarf had brought all manner of things into Maro's life, namely his love of smoking. Renald even carved an ornate smoking pipe for Maro, carved in the shape of an old dwarven golem. He had introduced the harder liqueurs to Maro who, up until that time, had only been drinking wine. Maro's life had remained largely uneventful, mostly just travel from place to place (he held the belief that his portals would be better and more accurate if he had a good memory of the location).

The Second War had come to Dalaran before long, Maro aiding in its defense to the best of his abilities. Eventually he and Renald had fled to Silvermoon, waiting out the rest of the Second War there. Renald had returned to Dalaran soon after the war was over, while Maro had decided to remain in Silvermoon for a time.

Eventually the Third War rolled around, the masses of the Undead rising up to assault the home of the High Elves. It wasn't long until Silvermoon had fallen before the black tide of death, Maro narrowly escaping his doom through yet another portal to Dalaran. He caught up with his old friend, Renald, but he learned that his troubles were far from over as the undead marched upon the city as well.

Through the magical destruction of the towers, Maro managed to escape marginally unscathed, but unable to flee the city as he always could. Renald was dead and Maro could not believe the incredibly poor luck he was suffering. He stayed behind when the Prince rallied the Elves to the defense of Dalaran and the Alliance Remnants.

Skipping the inevitable betrayal and near execution, we find Maro in Outland, following Kael'thas in search of a new source of magic. He had always been thankful that he never had to partake in the fouler things that were done, yet still it ate at him. He had always planned to defect, but never had the chance until the Scryers did en mass. Maro fled with them to Shattrath, though did not remain long, taking his chance to portal back home before long.

The moment that he could, Maro teleported himself to Dalaran. There he did what he could to help rebuild the city, remaining in the service of the Kirin Tor as the great city soared through the skies over Northrend.
