History: Marie was born to a tinkering family in Gnomeregan that specialized in making firearms and other weapons. At that time she had two older brothers, and later on she would have a sister that was five years younger than her. Despite the questionable subject of kids with weapons, her parents had no qualms with including her and her siblings in on the activity, and teaching them how to make their own inventions as well. While she started with making little pop-cap guns and paper zeppelins, it wasn't long until she moved on to making more complex machines as she continued her tinkering.

Tinkering became a wholesome, family activity as well as a business for them to sustain themselves. Marie enjoyed nothing more than creating, and if something went wrong she always had someone to turn to to help her out. This went on until troggs invaded Gnomeregan, and while her parents would have been more than eager to gun them down, they noticed that there were in fact a few too many troggs and the imminent gassing didn't do anything to help repel them from her beloved homeland.

Before it was too late they packed their things together and went with the other exiles to Ironforge where they could resettle and resume their lives. It was a blow to have lost their home and with that a lot of her inventions as well. Marie left many things behind but they were able to stay together as a family and keep making goods for the business.

It wasn't too many years later that she and her older siblings had all grown up. Her brothers returned to Gnomeregan to help with the effort of reclaiming it. Meanwhile, Marie had set herself to building as many things as she could. She worked away from the idea of weapons and more to the idea of travel in the world, and one of her first ambitions was to fly. Taking the idea from the little paper zeppelins she made as a child, she set to making one of her own, though nowhere near as big or formidable as an actual zeppelin. In the end it more or less ended up like a hot-air balloon with a propeller. It took her about three years to both plan, make, and test. By the time it was ready she had said her good-byes to her parents and little sister, and set off for the maiden voyage. With the zeppelin loaded with supplies, she set off into the air, and hadn't been seen in Ironforge since.

The first few days of travel were leisurely as she made it south. She had looked at the surface of the world below, and traveled over the Searing Gorge and even made it to Elwynn. It wasn't until she made it to Duskwood that she had problems. As she flew over the endless amount of trees a murder of crows ascended into the sky. It was just her luck that they had crossed paths with her invention, and the flimsy balloon part was clawed at as a few of the crows accidentally bumped into it. Before she knew it there was a sound of leaking air, and her ship began to descend gradually, picking up some speed.

She frantically tried to steer it as it descended, and the trees were giving away. By the time it crash-landed she had crossed over a river, and into a jungle, stranded there alone. She didn't have the resources to make her machine air-worthy, so she salvaged what she could to survive in the jungle. From the cargo she had her food, her savings, a single robot stored away, and a gun. Salvaging the fabric of the balloon part she was able to make a tent, staying at the crash site to recuperate.

The next few days were navigation. Her robot came in handy when it came to defense, as well as her gun. Together she had fend off the wildlife, and eventually managed to find a road, which lead her to Booty Bay. By then her clothes were tattered and she had a strange craving for gorilla and tiger meat, the survival and camping out in the Vale gave her a taste of adventure that kept her returning there day after day.

Fortunately with the port close by she could return from any of her explorations to work on the tinkering. The goblin market had many parts for engineering that she herself could not get in Ironforge. This lead her to her next invention, another vehicle, though this one would run on the ground. In short, she gradually saved and worked towards having a chopper, picking up gambling and trying her luck as a way to make the payments. By the time that invention was finished she was so proud; she had a machine that could navigate a lot of terrain, and carry her possession, including her faithful robot in the sidecar. From then on she spent time scouring the jungle for more things, while making new friends in Booty Bay.
