Elegant leisure. Mansfield sports a light vest over a starched and collared white shirt with a black cravat, with his legs clad in either brown or black muslin slacks that hang over knit white socks and black leather plain-toe boots.

Other: While still in decent shape, Elliott's age has started to catch up with him, leaving him winded if he has to run a long distance or heavily exert himself. As he has grown older, he has turned to the quieter pursuits of life: cooking, botany, the natural sciences, and chemistry.

Personality

Alignment: Lawful Neutral

The Elliott Mansfield of the south-lands is a man who is so often distant and detached that his personality borders on brusque, if not downright curt. His interaction with those around him, whether medical or personal, is succinct and largely to the point -- a figurative journey from point A to point B, with few detours along the route.

Indeed, his reputation as a reserved, withdrawn, even defeated man is so powerful in Stormwind and the surrounding countryside that few can imagine him as anything but. It is thus with great surprise that any individual who engages him on a professional level (as a doctor and a surgeon) or a personal level (as an amateur botanist, natural philosopher, chemist, and to a lesser degree, musician) discovers the innate warmth and genuinely personable qualities he keeps hidden within.

History

Fifteen years before the lands to the south were put to the sword by the Orcish hordes of the First War, Elliott Mansfield was born. Twenty years of education and erudition, twenty years of bliss in the pursuit of knowledge, before he was torn away from his books and theses, from the works of natural philosophy and history that he so loved: Stormwind had fallen. The refugees had arrived in Lordaeron. Stromgarde's military might was called upon once again, for they alone were in a position to check the Horde advance from the occupied territories to the south.

During his early childhood and youth within the relatively quiet walls of Stromgarde, Elliott Mansfield had found work first as a messenger boy, and then, as his penmanship and education improved, as a clerk. Although his own studies in the natural sciences had provoked an interest in the inner workings of the body, it was not until he was drafted to assist the surgeons who were handling the casualties from the southern front that he uncovered his interest in medicine.

His life during the events of the Second War was not one of glorious deeds or feats of strength. It was not a tale of valorous heroism, but that of a man doing his duty. As the tides of the Horde pummeled the slowly dying city-state, Elliott Mansfield spent his days tending to the wounded, first as an assistant, and then as a surgeon in his own right. He stitched, sewed, patched, and tacked right up until the end, and then, he left.

Stromgarde was dying. The land was in ruins, battered and mauled by the horrendous events of the war, and in his heart, Elliott knew that his beloved city-state would not recover to the splendor it had held in the past. With a heavy heart, he slipped away from the city's tall, formidable walls, slowly following the stream of humanity southwards, towards the rebuilding city of Stormwind.

He has lived in the Stormwind area since a short time past his thirty-fifth birthday. Although he has adjusted to his life in the south, and seldom speaks now of Stromgarde, those who know him well know that even in its ruin, his heart will always lie in the northlands.
