Appearance

Lieonai normally dresses in reds, golds and blacks. She is proud to wear the colors of her people and the colors of the sun. Most of the time she can be found wearing plated armor in the same color and her plated skirt gives away her movements as she strides around. The armor is well kept, hand crafted by her and almost always shining due to the amount of time put into polishing it. She makes no attempt to hide that she is a servant of the sun and her armor is her way of proudly displaying it. Upon her head is a hand-crafted head-piece serving more as a decoration rather than protective armor as she believes hiding her face is dishonest.

Her sword has been enchanted to display a toned down image of the sun near the hilt of the blade. The weapon is well used as well as hand crafted, her name signed into one of the smaller hilt-points of the blade. Though somewhat large, she manages to wield it in one hand. When she plans on leaving safe areas, Lieonai can be found hauling around a rather large red and gold shield. While it looks heavy, the larger Sin'dorei seems to be able to move it around with ease.

When dressing with no plans in mind, she can be found in simple cloth or leather clothing, normally she has a bit more showing in order to allow her skin to soak up the sun in order to keep her tanned appearance. These have no restriction on color like her armor seems to have, nor does she care about other's opinion of her casual outfits. When training, she wears heavy plate in order to help build up her muscles even more, though uses mail when she needs to be able to move around quicker.

Other: Along her whole body, head to toe, are markings of the sun and the Sin'dorei. These extend everywhere, even up to her skull and around her eyes. When in more revealing clothing, the marks can be seen better. These markings are also red and gold, though most of them seem to be black with the other colors making light appearances in the design.

Personality

Lieonai has always been more of a protector rather than someone who would like to cause pain to others around her. Her sometimes overbearing presence is due to her need to make sure those around her are safe in any way possible. She is very gentle spoken, taking her time to speak with those around her as to avoid any possible miscommunication. She is not one to engage into fighting, rather, she is one to throw herself in the way of an oncoming attack in order to defend whoever it was originally aimed for. When Lieonai is given no other choice, she will start the fight in order to take most of the blows on herself rather than allow them on another.

She finds it her job to protect every race in which the sun's rays shine upon and sees it as her job to spread this light to areas which have been cursed by the darker magics. As such, she dresses in bright golden armor to display her love for the sun and her own race, going as far as to decorate her mount with the same colors. The only race's she will not offer aid and protection to are the Gnomes, the Dwarves and the Kaldorei for each of those three races have shut themselves off from the Sun. Besides the Sin'dorei, she seems to hold a great respect for the Tauren who live in the sunny plains of Mulgore and dislikes the Kaldorei the most due to their worship of the moon.

The girl has an odd way of thinking, perhaps she may be deluded or perhaps she finds it as a real calling. Lieonai openly worships the sun as an entity rather than just a floating object in the sky. To her, the powers of the Light are given to her from the glorious Sunwell and soon after drawing the power from the new source did she mark her body with tattoos. She believes the markings on her body is what gives her the power to call upon the light during the times in which the moon shines rather than the golden orb and will often claim that others may have these marks invisible upon their bodies. Her beliefs make her think as if she was a chosen one, though it is far from the fact. Lieonai's own desperate nature is what makes her think this way, and she takes to heart that "The eternal sun guides us."

While she is willing to protect anyone, it does not mean she will open herself up to be friends with them. In fact, Lieonai has very few friends and doesn't have a large want to gain friends. She is of the opinion that people are best kept at a distance, rather than up close where they can harm you. She will extend a hand to someone who is lonely, but tends not to stick around them for more than a month or so unless the danger to them extends over that time.

History

Lieonai was born on the outskirts of Silvermoon as the first child to a wealthy family. This fact upset her father, him being rather bitter that it had not been a son at first like his friends all bragged about. Lieonai was cast back in her family as she grew, never really seeing her father and never getting any praise from him. Rather than facing the shame of having a firstborn daughter, her father changed her little room into a jail cell, the door locking from the outside and the windows boarded over. He didn't want the world to know that he had stirred a daughter first, even going as far as to accuse his wife as cheating. Her mother almost always seemed tired and it wasn't until she became pregnant again did she seem to gain any energy again at all. This happened only two years after Lieonai's birth and her imprisonment would keep going for a few years after the next child was born.

Two years and some odd months after Lieonai's birth, her brother was born. She heard from the confines of her little room of her father bragging about his 'firstborn' child and introducing the drooling baby to all his friends. Such a thing she could never fully understand at the time, but none the less it depressed the girl who had never seen past the hallway leading to her room. A plot was hatched by her father and she would soon find herself near-starved, any light source in her room taken away and leaving her only with the bitter darkness. She screamed at first, a child's natural fear of the darkness taking over, but her father had used a paste to seal her mouth shut until she stopped being afraid. Her resolve was not broken during these times and instead, she took to heart what little light came though her door when she was fed. These hard times for her would go on until her brother had reached the age of five.

Suddenly she was allowed out of her room, her malnutrition and lack of light giving her a rather underdeveloped appearance. Her parents introduced her as the younger child and claimed they had kept her a secret because she had been sick until now, but had been 'recovering'. She refused to speak at first, but when at last the friends coxed her to do so, she simply smiled at them and said that she hoped to see the sunlight soon. She was fed and allowed to be outside as much as she wanted after that, her fathers 'shame' seeming to have been passed now that no one would know his apparently terrible secret. Her body would tan from her sickly pale over the years and her dark hair lighting up to an orange color due to the sun's exposure. At last all seemed right in the world for the family.

Things went on well for many years, Lieonai and her brother causing trouble with each other as siblings tend to do. Rather than heckle him with the truth, the elder sister let her brother brag about being the eldest, fearing what the father might do if she ever told the truth. It never stopped the protective 'older sibling' instinct that she had deep insider of her, and whenever her brother was in trouble she was quick to come to his aid. The girl was known for staying outside as much as possible, and others became concerned when she would go into hysterical fits when the sunlight was no longer in her view. She would often drop to the ground and start screaming as her pent up fears and worries would wash up over her. Her father became increasingly worried that she would speak the truth and using a good sum of money, outfitted her room to have many lights and her ceiling painted to represent the sun. The yard would become full of lights so that she would never be far from some source of the sun.

As they entered their teenage years, Lieonai and her brother both took interest into different things. Her brother had always watched the Farstriders from a distance and had always wished to learn to wield a bow. Once more the family fund came into play as he would train into the skills of the bow and sword. Lieonai had no interest in fighting and saw herself as more of a healer. Her ears would be caught by the prayers of the priests and she would beg to devote her life to the aid of others. She was allowed, but on the condition that she train her body with her brother as well. Lieonai would devote most of her days to aiding the sick and wounded as the first war passed by, though more as a medic than an actual priest. She would uphold her deal and 'spar' with her brother, though she focused more on dodging rather than harming him back.

Life went on for the two siblings rather well, their mother and father spoiling them as they saw fit. Life for the two was never hard, each had their fair share of crushes and dates, though she tended to take such things more serious than her brother. The father seemed to have almost completely had forgotten about his shame, truly thinking that his son had been born first, and Lieonai would never dream to tell anyone different. On top of their training, the two were taught about money management, fancy parties and what was in fashion and what wasn't. From her mother, Lieonai learned how to sew and bake, from her father she learned how to manage her time and fighting off rowdy boys. All and all, she lived a fairly tamed life so long as the sun was near here to see.

Then the Horde came.

Her brother was one of the first ones out there on the battle-field with the rest of the Farstriders. Her people fought to the best of their abilities, doing their best to drive out the savage Orcs and bloodthirsty Trolls. The nights turned dark as the sound of griding blades would forever haunt her memories. She would huddle up under a tent, biting deep into her lips and tears falling freely in her hysteria. When the day would come, she would be greeted with bodies of her slain people as well as the howls of the Orcs and Trolls. Each passing night would only increase her hysteria and her cries, people soon going out of their way to avoid the sobbing elf. Her only comfort was with her brother, and she did her best to stay by his side in battle should he ever become injured. He would hold her close at the night, making sure that nothing could harm her as she fell into her fits.

The end was on the horizon, the darkness once more falling as the creatures were at last pushed back. She was out with her brother as normal while cheers of the High Elves rose in the air, the green-skins running at last. Her fit had started to settle in as the sun started to fall below the trees and they were about to head back to the camp for the last time. Sadly, the savages had one last plan for the over-extended group of elves. The ambush came quick, giving the small group no time to react before a blade sunk into her brothers neck, giving him a quick death. She could hear nothing but the body thudding against the ground, and was unable to even feel another blade slice across her back. The remaining elves were able to hold back the Orcs as the hysterical Lieonai did something she had never though to do before.

A shrike rose up as she grabbed her brothers blade, whipping herself around before charging at the one that had cut him down. The blade impaled him to the ground before she pulled out her own personal dagger, stabbing the creature in the face and chest more than fifty times before she was pulled off by the other elves. Before she gave into the darkness of exhaustion, the sun seemed to peak just a bit though the trees, a voice in her head before she felt nothing at all once more.

The funeral was a small one, family and friends the only ones invited. Upon the coffin was the sword that he had held, the very same blade she had used to pin down the savage beast. Lieonai never spoke a word while the preist sent the spirit off to the afterlife with meaningful words. Her father took the death harder than her, and at last his will broke. He screamed at her as the casket was lowered, asking why it hadn't have been her instead. His face would soon over-come with shock as she lifted her head calmly, her gaze neutral. She stood there for several minutes staring at him before at last she would speak.

"The firstborn is always the sacrifice in the tales."

At home she found herself once more locked away in her room, the lights taken away. Her father had expected to hear her screaming, but instead, heard nothing the whole first few nights. Her mother had been charged with feeding her, which she did often. After two weeks, her father would finally open the door with the moon high in the sky. The sight would cause him to jerk back. Lieonai was on her knees, her nightgown spread out and her hair touching the floor. She stared at the door, her eyes glinting in the night. No visible emotion was across her face, her bones were showing as uneaten food was scattered across the floor. The man became enraged, storming into the room and beating her and only leaving in frustration as she refused to fight back.

He came back nightly, trying to get any reaction out of her. She would only sit there as bruises and cuts formed on her body. Her mother had at first begged him to stop, but a smack to her face had silenced her. The beatings would go on for a month with no reaction from the girl and more frustration from the father. Lieonai would eat only as much as she needed to in order to survive. The beatings toughened her body, gave her a tolerance to pain and soon her father couldn't get so much as a flinch out of her. At last, after three months, he would ask her what was wrong with her. Her response would cause him to lock and bored up her room, thinking her possessed.

"The sun protects his children...you can do nothing...father...nothing to harm me."

Her mother would sneak food in though cracks in the windows, allowing her daughter to survive in her prison for years, the time exactly unknown to her. Each day would prove no answer when her father yelled though her door and only muttering when her mother begged to know of her condition. She was firm in her resolve that the Sun would come to her in her time of need, and that so long as she proved resolute, no harm would befall her. She was completely unaware when the shambling hordes of scourge made their approach to her beloved city.

Her family home was nearly destroyed by a straggling group of the scourge, thankfully the house not in the direct path to the Sunwell. It was when she heard the dying sounds of her father did she at last cease her muttering. Her mother nearly suffered a similar fate, though a group came to take care of the rotting creatures. The door to her room had been damaged from the pounding of the ghouls. As the saviors of her mother comforted the older woman the door would fall out of place, landing on the ground. Standing in the doorway was an nonspeaking Lieonai, her skin pale and her bones showing though the skin. One could have mistaken her as one of the scourge had she not took deep breaths.

They all felt the agony of addiction as the Sunwell became destroyed, making their way to the city only when they felt is absolutely safe. Lieonai played her part in moving the bodies and tending to the wounded. Her actions seemed as if she were in a trance, her movements unthinking in a memorized practice. Her mother had started to worry before at last Lieonai would look up to her and smile.

"The sun will see us though, mother."

Lieonai and her mother struggled together to overcome the addiction that the Sunwell had kept at bay, each day more agonizing than the last. They feared that each might suffer the fate of the wretched and always were sure to keep each other in check. When the men of Kael'thas at last returned with the 'solution' to their problems, the Fel, Lieonai and her mother felt extremely hesitant. The night after, her mother had made an odd request, asking Lieonai to go speak with a group across the city. When the daughter returned, her mother was gone. Soon after, Lieonai at last started to drain from the Fel crystals. It wouldn't be too long after when she saw the skeletal form of her mother digging around with the other wretched, searching for a way to sate their out-of-control addiction.

Lieonai was one of the last to become a 'Blood Knight', draining from the thing known as a Naaru. The powers it gave her as well as it's own appearance made the woman think that it was from the sun itself that her powers were being granted from. She, with what remained of her family funds, had new armor a weapon and a shield forged for her, all bearing the symbol of the sun. She would fight to protect her people, having no bitterness from the mistreatment she had suffered. During these times, she would still avoid darkness as if it was a curse to her, going into hysterics once more. Part of her always felt wrong, taking her abilities so forcefully from the Naaru, but she felt it was necessary.

She trained her body hard, not much in the ways of fighting but rather in that of protection. Each day she would push her body to the limits of lifting, carrying heavy objects for hours on end so that she could easily maneuver with her heavy shield, which weighs more than a small child. Such trainings she still does to the current date, not wanting to fall out of practice. Lieonai would always remind others than she was not a fighter, and focused her style around the protection of others, only striking out if another was harmed.

She would once more allow time to pass over her, lost in her duties of protection. She remained optimistic, even more so once the beloved Sunwell was restored, a Naaru having sacrificed itself to purify it. She didn't let the betrayal of the prince get her down and was happy to embrace the holy energies the Sunwell so freely gave out once again. She would stop her Fel intake near immediately, though her eyes would never reverse from the bright green they had become.

Upon one of her visits to the restored Sunwell, she sore she heard a voice speak to her from it's murky depths. Odd looks were given to Lieonai as she rushed away, muttering to herself as if something marvelously had happened. Weeks later she could be seen once more, her body covered in markings in honor of the sun. She spent as much of her time in the sun in order to darken her skin yet again and lighten her hair. Lieonai proclaimed to the few friends she had that she was meant to be ,and hand chosen to be, the defender of the sun. She would defend those who embraced the warm rays, even if they had done her wrong in the past. They called her crazy, but could not sway her views.

In the dead of the night, now feeling protected by the markings on her skin, Lieonai set out to do as she felt she was born to do. She now travels around the world, helping those who are in distress. She has said several times in her life that she will not stop defending until she died or the rays of the sun ceased to shine. She has since taken on the surname of Sunweaver, finding it more fitting than her former name of Duskbringer.

"The eternal sun guides us."
