Just a little taller than the average Night Elf, Lanaya's skin is a light purple color, more 'pale' compared to others. Wears robes or other casual (cloth) clothing, along with a headband. She mostly has a simple sling over her shoulder with a bag resting against her hip with a number of scrolls and other things.

Personality

Lanaya always sticks her nose in people's business, especially with mages who seem rather experienced and possibly willing to share their knowledge. She tends to fuss over the smaller details in deals or agreements, contracts and other official business. She often approaches other mages with questions and or asking for guidance, wanting to expand her knowledge in the schools of magic. Lanaya is hesitant to talk to druids of her kind due to possible judging towards her path as a mage. She spends most of her time with humans and Draenei, even gnomes with their well known interest in the magical arts.

Other than that, she generally avoids contact with any Undead, and tends to be hostile towards them. Orcs too are generally treated with caution in mind due to their general standings with most Night Elves.

History

Lanaya spent most of her youth chasing after all sorts of bugs in the forests surrounding Astranaar, seeing where they had their little hives and even where the smallest creatures made their home in the forest. She mostly came home just in time for dinner with her feet covered in mud and twigs in her hair. She lived with her older brother and her parents in a small house in Astranaar. They tended to their own business and often traded with other people in the village.

Lanaya was often left to do her own thing as she pleased, which she was happy with. As time went on however, she started reading more rather than actually going out and exploring. She had her own little maps of the area drawn out with charcoal and there was little left to do. So, instead of exploring the forest, she started to explore literature. One of the elves in the town had a large collection of books with all sorts of information about the history of the world known to the Night Elves.

After a few weeks, she was found between the bookcases on a daily basis, rather than having mud trailing behind her. She often talked and shared her thoughts with the other Kaldorei on how things could have gone differently had the past events, like the Sundering or the War of the Ancients, had gone any differently.

It wasn't long before her interests were diverted to the Arcane arts, and Lanaya wondered how it would be to wield magic of such a sort herself. However, she was well aware of the rules and laws in Night Elven society towards Arcane magic, and she shoved these thoughts into the back of her head, disallowing them to continue.

After a while, the Orcs landed on Kalimdor and attacked Ashenvale. Fearing for her life after the demonic army at Hyjal was defeated, she fled to the new city of Darnassus. She stayed here for years while people like Illidan and the Lich King were defeated, until the Cataclysm. However, the Cataclysm changed many things. The Highborne came to Darnassus, and Lanaya learned about the chance that she now had to learn about arcane.

Along with several others she started taking lessons in how to use the magic that was previously forbidden. Despite it being Arcane magic, which had been corrupted by demonic energies in the past, all the highborne she came into contact would never ever consider going down that path again, wanting to be pure in their use of magic and show the evil forces of the world that they didn’t need foul ways to become stronger.

Lanaya was very much inspired to take a similar stance in that regard, wanting to use a pure form of magic to show to the world that their race would not fall to the same tricks they had in the past.

After getting a basic grasp of Arcane magic, she decided to take several scrolls and travel through the world looking for other mages and learning as she went. Especially curious to see if she could learn from experienced Fire or Frost mages, two schools she hadn’t had a chance to explore too much yet.
