Personality

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Ancient as she is rebellious, Kalrah is what you would expect of an old Kaldorei with a thirst to roam and wander. Her actions are guided not by norm or guideline, as there is no niche for people like her in Kaldorei society. Instead, she acts wherever she is present, attempting to work for the greater good and the preservation of nature and life's harmony with it. Kalrah distrusts technology, and weaponry altogether, always maintaining that one's body is their greatest tool and that it should be put to use as often as possible in order to steel and better it.

Of the races of the Horde, Kalrah has come to hate the Blood Elves, more so for their Highborne ancestry than their fall to Fel, the memories of Highborne-wrought horrors still scarring her mind, thousands of years after they'd been committed. Orcs are a nuisance, but no real threat in her mind - after all, an orcish life is the blink of an eye to her. Tauren she favors more than any other race of the Horde, but the fact that they've allied with the Horde has been a source of dismay to her. Regardless, Kalrah believes with utmost conviction that the Tauren will see the error of their ways and return to their more nature-based lifestyle, as opposed to the wars that the Horde thrusts them in. Needless to say that Kalrah utterly hates Undead of all forms, as they are a blemish on existence, a taint and an abomination, as much as Fel itself. Trolls are an ancient grudge of hers as well, a race that should have been wiped out long ago, according to Kalrah.

The Alliance is looked on with a fair bit more benevolence. Kalrah sees Gnomes and Humans as destructive and abusive of the forces of nature, effectively plundering the land for secrets best left hidden, or allowed to surface at their own time. Kalrah has a mixed view of Dwarves, on the one hand due to the Wildhammers' kinship with nature, on the other due to the Ironforge Dwarves' continuous excavations - in the end, Kalrah has settled on viewing them with neutrality. Draenei are her favored race as far as the Alliance is concerned, as she is fascinated with these ancient star-faring people.

Kalrah loves her own race and is proud to be a Kaldorei, even if at times the Night Elves do not quite know how to treat those in her profession - on the one hand in harmony with Azeroth's natural patterns, on the other flirting very close to the millennia-old dangers of Arcane.

History

Kalrah was born approximately a thousand years before the Sundering, to what she'd later assume were formerly wild-elf parents, turned Kaldorei by energies of the Well of Eternity. Regardless of her thoughts and beliefs on the matter, Kalrah's childhood was a happy one. She lived on the outskirts of Zin'Azshari, none too far from the banks of the Night Elves' fount of power, and wanted for little.

Active and energetic, as Kalrah matured she developed a desire to travel and see the world and for a few centuries did just that, leaving her parents' side to roam what was a primal Azeroth, where the Kaldorei were stopped by nothing save the Aquir and the mighty Dragons. Her centuries of utter freedom would be short-lived, however, as the attempt to bring Sargeras onto Azeroth through the Well of Eternity sparked the War of the Ancients.

Rapidly returning to the side of her now split people, Kalrah helped the Kaldorei in the War as best she could, for in the hundreds of years in which she'd travelled, she had grown comfortable with combat. As the great Sundering shattered Kalimdor and banished the threat of the Legion, Kalrah could feel nothing but sadness at the pain of the world around her and hatred for those that defiled Azeroth so: The Highborne.

As the Night Elves turned towards the Natural arts, so did she seek a path that was in harmony with the world around her, and after much effort, she managed to find a like-minded person: a Runemaster that would become her first teacher in the art. Vowing that she would do all she could to prevent the abuse of Arcane energies from harming the world further, Kalrah began her training in the naturally occurring patterns that made up the Runic Art, even as the Highborne were exiled from Kalimdor, and the Night Elves faced and staved off the threat of the Silithid and Qiraji in the War of the Shifting Sands.

During the course of the Long Vigil, Kalrah's single-minded goal was training and study under her master, travelling Kalimdor far and wide and seeking attunement with her patterns, aiding in the protection of the Night Elves wherever she could - as the coming of the Legion had created many new enemies and altered old ones, among which the terrible and devious Satyrs.

As the millennia passed, Kalrah's gaze fell less and less toward the ground, and more toward the stars, her waking moments often spent in contemplation of the constellations and she would ponder the very name of her people - Kaldorei - as children of the stars. She felt drawn to the night sky somehow, and seeing it bloom across the heavens each evening was a delight to her. That is not to say that she shirked her training nor duty, instead trying her best to hone her body and skills, and better herself in hopes of fulfilling her ancient vow.

The ages flew by and the first skirmishes with the Orcs took place. Kalrah never took a frontline role in them, instead engaging in combat on the sidelines, on her own terms whenever she could. She would help the Kaldorei, yes, but not as an official part of their forces. As the Legion dawned upon Azeroth once more, her role changed in that she even participated in the Battle of Mount Hyjal, fleeing when the Horn of Cenarius was sounded. Her master would not be so fortunate, instead meeting an end in the blast wave caused by the Wisps' detonation around Archimonde.

Kalrah's master's death humbled her greatly, and taught her a final lesson: That no matter how old and how skilled one can be, they are still able to perish just as easily anyone else. Another worry crept into Kalrah's mind at this time: Mortality. Though she had every confidence that either Nordrassil would heal soon or Teldrassil be blessed and the immortality of the Night Elves would be restored, she could waste no time and had to make use of every second.

And so, Kalrah journeyed across the great sea, rediscovering the Eastern Kingdoms and the patterns that lay there, but avoiding the sentient races there as much as possible. While some locations would prove unavoidable, such as the cliffs above Stormwind, or the halls of the Dwarves, her journeys were not hampered much, thanks to the Night Elves' joining the Alliance.

After the Dark Portal reopened, Kalrah even tried travelling Outland for a time - a journey springing from fascination with the Night Elves' newest neighbors, the Draenei - but found it sickeningly similar to what she'd experienced during Azeroth's Sundering, wondering what could cause such planet-death, while the bitter truth lay on the tip of her tongue: Abuse of magic. One thing she did enjoy about her trip to Draenor's shattered remains was the sky and the worlds and stars visible on it, however.

Returning to Azeroth, she found herself pitted face to face with a world that relied more and more on currency and resources, and had to adapt to this new dilemma, to this shift in paradigm. She didn't find any solution until the first Icebreakers set out to Northrend, and she took a leap of faith, joining Brann Bronzebeard's expedition into Ulduar, paying little attention to the other conflicts raging on the frozen continent. She stuck with the Expedition throughout, from beginning to end, down to the fall of Yogg-Saron and Algalon the Observer, and was unprepared for the secrets the archaeological journey would reveal. Laden with knowledge, and now with a means to support herself, Kalrah paused for a time and assessed her surroundings.

What caught her eye was not the titanic struggle against the Lich King, but another call for help: Wyrmrest's struggle in the Nexus War. As the maddened Aspect Malygos threatened to deal irreversible damage to the world, Kalrah remembered her ancient vow, and pledged herself to Wyrmrest's side in the Nexus War, her skills set forth until the bitter end and the death of the crazed Spell-weaver.

Her vow fulfilled, Kalrah found herself without direction once more. World-weary as she was whimsical, the ancient Runemaster chose to resume wandering the world, with naught but a prayer to the Pale Goddess, asking for a cause to spend her days for...
