Head of House: Taves Sesillian Marrowmore.

How did the family rise to nobility? Venal office. A rich, landless bourgeoisie would have bought his way into nobility through connections and wealth, gaining a position as a commander in the Kingdom of Azeroth's military. His family's status as nobility would only have solidified a generation before Taves' birth.

How does the family sustain its wealth? They're true landed gentry - Taves spends most of his time with agricultural pursuits, and the vast majority of the land he possesses is used for staple crops (and investments in other, less usual crops he's deemed wise). He levies tax money through his property, the particular source of this coming from his towns (in which he imposes surcharges for trade, as well). He does not spend frivolously and tenaciously protects his carefully planned investments to avoid shortfalls. He is not one to take risks, so his reserves would remain safe.

What sort of assets does the family have?

The Marrowmore estate

  • Manor (focus of estate, moderate size)
  • Farmland (200 acres)
  • Ancillary buildings
  • Blacksmith
  • Barracks (10/20 dedicated guards)
  • Kitchens/noble crops
  • Offices/staff accommodation
  • Chapel

Town of Portley (population 1300 est.)

  • Est. 180 homes (poor), 20 homes (middle class), 5 homes (wealthy)
  • Standing militia of under 30
  • Moderate church, approx. 5-10 chapels throughout lands.
  • Two inns. Multiple pubs (up to 30)
  • Farmland (400 acres est.)
  • Industry: Livestock (sheep), wool-spinners, clothiers.

Village of Darrington (population 500 est.)

  • Est. 70 homes (poor), 5 homes (middle class), 3 homes (wealthy)
  • Standing militia of under 10
  • Small church, approx. 5-10 chapels throughout lands.
  • No inns. Accommodation through friendly townsfolk. Between 5-15 pubs.
  • Farmland (450 acres est.)
  • Industries: Rug-making, beekeeping, carpentry.

Other lands

  • One small mine (iron ore)
  • Various insignificant holdings - hunter posts, a handful of lumber camps, etc.

Treasury

  • A hefty reserve of gold - enough to see them through multiple years of poor harvest even while spending moderately.
  • Slow, reliable income - treasury will drain rapidly if things are bought flippantly.

Military

  • Infinitesimal. Standing militia of between 50-100 across all lands.
  • Can levy more at the risk of massive dents in the treasury to field more.
  • Any militia past the normal amount would be pitifully armed and armored (bows, spears, peasant-clothing)
  • Taves would have a well-equipped personal guard (five individuals, but only one would accompany him - if at all)

What is the family known for? Being ordinary. They have a clean, agrarian history and, outside of the occasional failed military attempt by Taves, haven't dabbled in anything that could cause ire. He has only few connections and rarely plots or schemes. The populace in the towns are subject to tepid treatment and generally wouldn't be resentful, although they can be manipulated by Defias rhetoric. To the ordinary person, Taves' existence wouldn't be particularly noteworthy.

How old is the family? To quote his profile:

The Marrowmore family's blood tracks, like all other humans, back to the kingdom of Arathor and the Troll Wars, but their lineage only became blue-blooded during the reign of Landen Wrynn. When it occurred can be placed between the years 498 and 510 using the King's Calendar (roughly -120 using the current accounting of years)...

Is the family open for members to join? It is open! Looking for absolutely anything - family members (primarily cousins, aunts, uncles) would be open for applying (of course, they'd need special profiles), but other things from accountants, doctors, treasurers, farmers, guards --- absolutely any role of anything, is open.
