Gol'grosh's body, old as it is, bears witness of many trials. His hands are covered in scorch marks, and his arms and torso in scars. His body is muscular and fit from many challenges, although it is starting to fall victim to old age and the hardships of the world. His, long, grey mane and beard is left to its own devices, allowed to grow freely down his chest and back. As for clothing, he wears nothing except a wolf-mask above the waist, everything below covered in thick, protective, leather armor.

Personality

Gol'grosh considers himself a guide, providing directions and advice for others. Despite this, he prefers to listen to what others have to say, before he gives them advice on what to do. In most situations, he prefers to meditate over important matters, rather than making rash decisions. When he has come to a decision, he will often consult with others, to ensure that they agree with him. He values his honor and that of other Orcs greatly, and despises cowardice and treachery. As for his relations with the Horde, he has a very strained relationship to the Forsaken and Blood Elves, although he will usually not go as far as insulting or harming them. He holds a deep respect for the Tauren, and views them as a noble, wise species. Trolls are usually considered individually, as he realizes they are quite diverse in their opinions. When it comes to other Orcs, he respects those hailing from noble clans, like the Frostwolves, Warsong, Shattered Hand and Bleeding Hollow. He is more reserved about accepting Orcs that hail from the Blackrock, Shadowmoon and similar clans. As for Alliance races, he treats most of them with indifference, although with the obvious exception of the Draenei, whom he treats with respect and understanding.

History

Gol'grosh was as one of the Fanged Skull Clan, one of the minor Orc Clans on the edge of the Terokkar Forests. The Clan was split between nomadic foragers and the more common villagers, resulting in the Clan covering a vast area despite its relatively small settlement. Despite being in close proximity to Shattrath, the Clan had relatively little to do with the Draenei, although their hunters and gatherers would occasionally come across them. Gol'grosh himself was the son of one of these hunters and his life-mate, and was raised with stories of the strange Draenei. Gol'grosh was taught from an early age to become a hunter, his father teaching him how to set traps and survival techniques. However, despite this, his father denied him joining the hunt until he had completed his Om'riggor.

He demanded to be given the chance to prove himself as soon as he came of age. His father agreed, and giving his son only an axe, told him to track and kill a Talbuk. With the training his father had given him, he soon found one of the mighty beasts, and while it was not easy, he managed to slay one of them without complications. He smeared the blood over his face, proudly returning to his village. However, the event took an unexpected turn when the elder shaman requested to speak with him in private, after the ritual was finished. Although unsettled by this strange request, he did as he was told. When Gol'grosh visited him, the elder explained that he could sense a connection with the Elements within him. Gol'grosh was taken aback, but honored, by the news. When the elder asked him if he wished to become a shaman, Gol'grosh readily accepted.

While Gol'grosh was taught the ways of the shamans, news reached them that many of the larger Orcish Clans were unified under a single chieftain, a Warchief. This troubled them, as they also heard that all that resisted the Horde were shunned or even slaughtered. The older members of the Clan remained unconvinced, in a mixture of disbelief and desperately hoping the rumors were false. What couldn't be denied was the strange corruption that spread among the Orcs, turning their skin green. Traders and hunters encountering other Orcs in the wilderness brought this corruption with them back, no one understanding how it spread. The rumors were eventually proven true, when the Horde attacked the Draenei, the Whiteclaw Clan and many other minor Orcish Clans. In outrage, the Fanged Skull Clan's chieftain condemned the Horde, swearing that no member of the Fanged Skull would ever vow their allegiance to it.

Gol'grosh's reaction to this news was one of mixed awe and fear, as he feared the Horde's answer to these actions. Many shared his fears, and some even fled the village, into Zangarmarsh. Gol'grosh remained behind in the village, certain the Horde would attack, but too proud to accept defeat. The Horde's answer eventually came in the form of the Clan's closest neighbors, the Bleeding Hollow and Bonechewer Clans. When Gol'grosh returned from the forest, he found his village in flames and his clansmen butchered. As he entered the village, a gruesome sight met him: A small group of Bonechewers had remained behind, feasting on the dead. Infuriated, Gol'grosh called for the aid of the Elements, the Fire obliging him by burning the Bonechewers alive.

Fearing reprisal from the Horde, Gol'grosh turned his gaze to Zangarmarsh. While he feared the ancient marsh due to old superstitions, he was nonetheless willing to face the marsh's secrets rather than the Horde's fury. He ventured into the marshland, unknowingly following in the footsteps of the Draenei before him. He settled in the mushroom forest, surviving on hunting the beasts of the swamp. For over two decades he would remain there without any contact with the outside world, in self-imposed exile and mourning the deaths of his clanmates. His solitude was eventually ended when the Illidari Naga invaded the marsh. At first, he ignored these strange, new creatures, but when they began to drain the water of the marsh and slaughtering its beasts, he decided to act. He began by ambushing small groups of Naga at a time, freeing the Broken slaves when he could. Despite his efforts, few of the Broken were freed, and most of the ones that were freed were hesitant to aid him, and some were unable to. After months of unsuccessful action, he gave up his attempts.

The Broken he freed told him that the city of Shattrath had been rebuilt and had become a safe haven for the refugees of war. The news encouraged him to leave the marsh behind along with them. When he arrived in Shattrath, he was met with suspicion, but nonetheless allowed within the city walls. He settled in the Lower City with the other refugees, although he would not stay there for long. While in the city, he heard that the Orcish Horde had been reformed under a new Warchief, a shaman of the Frostwolves. This intrigued him, and he began to inquire about this New Horde, wandering the Lower City and asking all the Orcs he could find. As the Orcs he met time and time again confirmed these rumors, a hope began to build up in him that the Orcs were perhaps moving towards a brighter future. When he crossed the Portal for the first time, Gol'grosh found himself in a strange, new world. He immediately decided to make his way towards Orgrimmar, to see this brighter future for himself.
