Skills and Abilities

Master Trapper

Drena is good with the arts of setting traps, and always has spare parts to assemble and pre-assembled traps. She has jaws, explosive traps, even arcane freezing ones.

Archery, Gunnery

Drena was trained with both bow and gun and is proficient with them both.

Cooking

In her spare time, between adventures and even during them! Drena is a good cook. She has a recipe book always by her side but also improvises by times. She does look forward, when she's done adventuring, to learning the arts of brewing.

Arcane Bullets

Drena has a flux capacitor on her shotgun or bow, which allows her to charge projectiles. However this quickly degrades the bow (or gun) so she tends not to do so unless in dire need (and it often requires the weapon to be changed, and since weapons are holy to Drena, that's not happening soon.)

Personality

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Drena is, by all means, a cheerful and curious dwarf, even though the events as of late have taken their toll on her mood. You can often see her humming and skipping about, when she's not simply enjoying some ale or other beverage. She is motivated by acquisition - mostly of rare loot - but also, and maybe as importantly, by discovery, and science. To be sure, she is a very optimistic, idealistic, confident and usually upbeat dwarf. She is moderately compassionate; but she is honest, and values hard work, yet she does know when to lie and cheat the odds in her favour - though never with a fellow dwarf. While she is careful, and to some point organized, she remains largely spontaneous, daring, and indeed quite reckless at times. She's generally agreeable, at least to fellow dwarves, and loves a drink or twenty - dwarves will be dwarves, after all!

Drena is a pioneer, or so she likes to think. Her discoveries tend to be welcome, but are nothing ground-breaking; but she finds important to give some of her loot to the League. She believes that anything that helps understand their history and purpose must be surrendered, and that it is a dwarf's utmost duty. She likes to think and ponder about such things herself, too, and she often paces for days thinking in her room, twirling her beard, which she keeps groomed (even though she isn't that keen on appearances).

However, the cheerful Drena remains reserved. She does not enjoy revealing anything about her life - except the odd tale of finding great loot, which is often exaggerated anyway - and tends to keep evasive or closed when dealing with personal, intimate events. She has somewhat conservative social views, though, and tends to hate anything undead or warlock-y. She upholds older social Dwarven values, without hating on newer, further trends. She does not like much of the younger generation's flighty attitude either. As for the Horde, she has mixed views - she would not directly bash an Orc or Tauren, and holds a bit of respect for Blood Elves, but she would not openly trust them either. (She's tried.) As a matter of fact, she also holds general distrust for anything arcane as well.

Drena might be extremely rich by now; but she's not. Most of the loot that she intends to hoard for herself tends to end in bets. Drena has had a love for sailing, and a fondness for gambling; naturally she found herself in Booty Bay, and ever since then has had trouble gambling, as she never knows when to stop, and could easily lose most of her fortunes away in a single dice roll.

History

Drena was born 56 years ago in Ironforge to a family of hunters, so it was normal she'd follow the path of the hunter. Her father Gonoth was quite an interesting fellow, a hunter by trade, he supplied Ironforge with goods from all over the mountains. Her mother Dana was a dwarf of good renown, a great and kind cook, always taking the needy in her stead despite not being rich herself. Drena lived through a happy, fanciful childhood, simple and well off. When she was about 25 years old the First War struck the lands and for six years she stayed helping her mother in the citadel. She had left the city once before but that was about it, but it only added to her curiosity as the war battered the lands and more ancient stuff was found, not counting the left aside war spoils. During these years she also spent lots of time admiring the Explorer's Hall, and certainly thanks to her mother's wandering experiences, she took a fashion for that. Many things happened during this time, like falling in love with another dwarf, or once almost dying, as she almost fell, so reckless, into this forge. Things that certainly made her what she is, though her life was still monotone, and she just knew she had to step higher and venture beyond Dwarven, or Alliance boundaries. Beyond the typical Dwarf commoner's boundary and interests.

As soon as the second war was over, and she was allowed to skip out of her city, Drena stepped all too eagerly outside of the fortress of Ironforge, to Kharanos. But she wasn't doing so well, and was ready to come back home until one day she fell into a ravine. And there, she met an old and familiar dwarf, quite renowned. He was a hearty trapper willing to explain to the lass the arts of marksmanship, wild survival, trap making, herbalism, fletching, and much more on how to be a good beast hunter and archer. The man had done the two wars, survived them with honors, had hunted so many beasts, and the day before she arrived, he was busy taking down two aggressive wendigos. And with some luck and twisted fate, he laughed, and offered her his fine, renowned skills! It was what they did best in her family, so she stayed. Besides, she didn't have much to do. Exploring is nice but what money would sustain her? Thus, until the Third War, she trained hard, and seemed good at it, but then again, she was a Dwarf who had some good skills, and took down a few good, naughty beasts. When the war struck, she didn't go on the fighting grounds but instead preferred to support Ironforge by going back home. To be truthful, people didn't believe Drena was fit for the war at very first, There she helped a lot with the few treasures she had managed to find, her good skills at mapping, though what she did most was preparing arrows and other ammo for soldiers, with the help of a blacksmith friend.

After the second war, Drena found herself idle and without occupation. It is when she began thinking of using her skills to become a treasure hunter - she had always dreamt of glory and wealth, after all, and she was keen on living in the wild. She walked the world looking for various treasures, sometimes for herself, sometimes as contracts; in time, she had acquired a small fortune, and even a hunting partner - they fell in love shortly thereafter. During the third war, Drena kept away from Elven lands, but when it was over, spent a lot of time in the Plaguelands - the loot left behind by the former inhabitants and the magical relics there were just worth the risks. She made quite a few money over the years, though nothing that would have ranked her as really "successful" - but she got by, and that was enough, at least at that time.

A few years before the Cataclysm, Drena gambled a lot of money - and won the big prize - a night she had drunk too much in the port of Ratchet. Her ties to the land had always hindered her (can't carry much, can't just hide your trresure and hope nobody finds it), and at such, she had planned to acquire a ship with all the money she had earned. Besides, you can't really be a great treasure hunter when you don't even have a place to store your relics? She did not find much, but with the money she won gambling, she found a seller in a faraway town, Beaufort Bay. When she arrived, the town was falling to a great plague - she was trapped there. When Annabelle saved the day though, Drena found the ship's owner and crew dead. Gathering a bunch of survivors to man the ship, she decided to simply sail away with it, eventually hiring a more experienced crew of dwarves and humans with the money she saved. She began a career sailing all over the world (though never actually attacking ships), and decided to specialize in hunting the more valuable and prestigious magical relics of ancient Kaldorei origins, basing herself on an old Kaldorei book she recovered long ago by stealing it off a luckily very distraught and very shady Quel'dorei. Driven by her ambitions, she managed to gather a small fortune, which would have been bigger had she been saving more instead of gambling most away.

Slightly before the Cataclysm, she lost half her crew during an expedition to a crazy, crestfallen gnome. Out of spite, she managed to kill her, before wandering again, back to Azeroth, feeling a change in the air. When molten rain poured down from the skies, Drena was at sea, returning to Ironforge; and ironically, even though she would often gamble obsessively, she did not lose her fortunes that way, no - she happen to arrive in Menethil during an attack by Deathwing - her ship was sunk, and she barely managed to survive. It is possible that without the healers at Menethil, she would not have made it, for she had suffered many wounds. It took her a year to fully recover - a long year, during which she thought of the times she could see herself famous and rich, and of just how close she was. A long year that did not break her resolve - but only strengthened it. She would recover her lost treasure; and even though she often felt like gambling, has tried to reform, as she wanted to become the wealthy prospector and treasure hunter she truly dreamed to be.
