Appearance

Celisa has a thinner athletic build, with lean muscles. Her eyes are a deep blue color, and her hair a natural blonde, common among Westfall. She has a youthful look, smooth skin, and- if you were to get really close- A faint minty fragrance. Celisa's custom-fit leather armor is roguish in appearance, dyed in dark blacks and grays. It's finely crafted and adorned with several sheathes, each carrying a steel throwing knife.

At her side are two sheathed blades; A razor-sharp Katana and an equally deadly Stealthblade for when a frontal assault is out of the question. She has no qualms with fighting in the shadows, nor does she hold back on using poison. A small black satchel rests on her left hip, filled with a variety of vials, containing poisons and antidotes.

When in her armor, everything from her gait to her mannerisms change, taking on the role of an entirely different person. It would take a well trained eye to recognize her as 'Alerine' – Her alternate persona, a wandering merchant. When not armored, she wears a plain set of loose cloth clothing, so as to hide her athletic combat-oriented build.

Personality

Celisa developed a tough personality from being around her family. Don't expect her to cry; Even if her mother were to pass away. Of course, that doesn't mean she isn't emotionless. She just has better control of them. She would feel saddened, of course, but it wouldn't be likely to show it in public.

She generally treats people with respect, the only exception being some members of the Horde. She's not afraid to voice her opinion when needed, though, and can be quite blunt at times. If there's something in your teeth, she'll tell you without hesitation. Every once in a while, she can be seen chewing on a very small deathweed petal, building up a resistance to common poisons.

Celisa doesn't like getting too close to people outside of her family, and isn't fond of romantics. Emotional ties are difficult for her.

Like the best rogues, she has an alternate persona, taking on the role of 'Alerine Grayfeather', a general goods merchant. Her voice is softer, mannerisms less direct, and appears to be cowardly. If she's being robbed, she'll go on with it, not bothering to defend herself. The only exception to this is life-threatening dangers, such as a mass murderer walking her way. In this case, she'll take the dagger hidden in her left boot and put it to use.

History

Celisa comes from a long lineage of warriors, duelists, bards, and masters of poison. Her family operates like a clan, the leader being the toughest and wisest. The Bladestep Legacy was founded by Marisius Bladestep many generations ago. He was an alchemist and duelist extraordinaire, and never strayed far from his lute. He mastered the use of poisons and herbs, and through vigorous training and high self discipline, he rose above the common fighter. He was renown for his extreme agility and use with a katana, and is revered and glorified in stories handed down from generation to generation. Countless ballads have been sung in his name, telling of his accomplishments and heroic deeds, his troubles, romances, and his death. He trained his four sons in the art of combat, knowledge and understanding of herbs, wisdom and respect. He was killed by his son, one Karusi Bladestep, in an honorable duel, proving himself worthy of carrying on his saga. Marisius' teachings are still going strong to this day, kept a secret to all but the family. Only blood-relatives train in his way, the exception being some wives and husbands, who are welcomed into the family with open arms.

Celisa was born in Westfall, her family having settled there after countless generations of wandering the Eastern Kingdoms, following the footsteps of Marisius. She's a direct descendant of Karusi's only son, who's children were infamous of only raising one child for the purpose of better educating them. Focussing on one was easier than a group. Traditionally, a Bladestep starts a family when they reach the age of thirty, and no sooner than twenty-five. They account for their own children's training. A Bladestep's partner always takes on their surname, wether the Bladestep is female or not.

Celisa was an only daughter, her father Marthuri Bladestep, and mother Iriven Bladestep. The Legacy is becoming more and more secretive as the days pass and people's opinion on poisons falter. Marisius' philosophy doesn't line up with the Light, and so to avoid persecution and discrimination, they train in secret, several family members even taking on a second life with a false history. Celisa was a generally well behaved child, but got in trouble from time to time, often in disputes with cousins. Punishments within the family were met with going hungry, and doing the chores of others.

As a Bladestep grows older, disputes can be settled by duels, but never to the death, unless the family's honor is on the line. Dishonoring the family is the worst thing a Bladestep can do. Bladesteps aren't thieves, and will never steal from another. Punishments range from severity, starting with whippings and ending with a duel to the death, but they never stage executions. Dueling is a way to honor to Marisius, and a Bladestep has never declined a duel- Even if they falter from the teachings and philosophy. Celisa grew up witnessing all of these, training in the art of combat and speed, excelling in the use of the family's traditional weapon, the Katana. Duels were commonplace, and Celisa even participated in a few of them herself.

Marisius taught that heavy armor disgraces oneself, and offends ones skill. One must trust themselves to dodge, parry, and retaliate. Cloth and leather armor is acceptable, which brought Celisa to craft her own set of dark leather garb as a sort of right-of-passage. When one is exceptional in all that they have been taught within the Bladestep Legacy, they create a set of armor proving their worth. It generally doesn't offer much protection, and as Marisius teaches, mustn't impair ones agility.

Celisa and her family managed to stay out of the wars, traveling great distances when necessary to get away from conflicts, such has been the way of her people. They only pledge themselves to other Bladesteps, and won't fight for another cause unless it threatens their way of life. Some have become mercenaries, though, offering protection to caravans and travelers. Protecting others is acceptable, according to Marisius, but taking money for spilling blood is dishonorable. He viewed military groups skeptically, as they they're prone to corruption.

Celisa lives close to Marisius' philosophy, excelling in the knowledge of poisons and related herbs, and it's not uncommon for her relatives to keep pet spiders for milking, or to grow their own deadly herbs. Poisons aren't viewed as dishonorable, but instead as resourceful and cunning, using ones naturally obtained herbs to better their lethality.

To this day, Celisa lives two lives; A merchant and a Bladestep. She sells mundane and easy to acquire things, and doesn't make much of a profit, only doing it as a fallback if her identity was ever in danger.
